help with Excel COUNTIF function please

I have used the excel countif function a lot over a range of cells, but can it be used over a specific set of cells eg, B2,E2, H2, etc, rather than B2:H2?

Yes, just comma seperate them. Works for most functions which work over more then one cell. Can mix and match within the same function as well, such as

COUNTIF(A1:E1,B2,E2,H2) etc.
