I'm going on a day trip to France next week, if I get a chance to buy any DVDs which ones should I look out for?

In The Mood For Love?

(the film, that is, I don't mean that literally.....unless you are, and you're female.....!)

BTW, hope this is the right forum to ask this question?

Okay, I have a (reasonably) big collection of French DVDs these are the best:

In the Line of Fire: Collector's Edition (I believe this is sceduled for next year over here and will carry exactly the same features.)

NIKITA (Quite a bit better than the R1 release.)

Stargate - 2 Disc Special Edition (Both versions of the film + all the extras of the UK version.)

Total Recall: UE - 2 Disc Set (LE Tin) (Not really worth getting if you have the new R1 release but if you haven't this is a very worthy purchase. - Also available in a 5 disc box set with T2: UE.)

Terminator 2: UE - 3 disc Set (LE Tin) (Same as UK + an extra disc with the theatrical version of the film. - Also available as a 5 disc Box Set with Totall Recall: UE.)

That's really it for the better ones I have... Look out for the Amelie 3 disc tin as I hear that is good too - if a little pricey.

Hope that helps, Matt :)

La Femme Nikita

Sleepy Hollow ( I believe France have a DTS version available)

These would be the 2 I would be looking for.

If you're only going as far as Calais then the local hypermarkets are (a) not cheap at an average £18-£19 per disc, and (b) if you want anything other than mainstream titles, then you will probably struggle to find what you're after.

Thanks people, I'll keep these in mind - especially Betty Blue, which is a great film.

Don't bother with Betty Blue in France unless you can speak/read French as their disc doesn't have English subtitles. If you want an 'English friendly' version order the R4 edition which is pretty much the same as the French disc. Cheapest source is Devoted (http://www.devoted.com.au)
