OK seeing as the search function is out at the mo and rather than trek through two seperate threads i'll post here what i was goin to reply to in the DTS:Cutout's and Videologic (VL) gives me free stuff threads.

First of all i had to send my Digitheatre subwoofer back to VL on the basis of experiencing DTS cutouts. It was through the aformantioned thread that i discovered via Tony Keats that i had an early model sub and that it might need repairing. I emailed VL and they confirmed thst i did indeed need it repaired and that i should send the subwoofer back.

It was picked up, by them, last Thursday by UPS and i received it back today. Not a bad turn around i figured. Upon opening the package i find they have given me a new Subwoofer as well as a new centre speaker/decoder. In fact i have practically a whole new system minus the four satellite speakers. They even threw in all the necessary wires (which i already have) and a new remote. !!!!!

I couldn't believe it and this is all free of charge as i'm still under warranty.

Any way i wanna say thanks to Tony Keats as if he hadn't of posted the contact and problems he experienced i would probably still be suffering in silence. ( Or at least dodgy cut-outs)Cheers buddy:D

And also a big thank ya to Videologic, they have a superb after sales service and i can't rate them enough. You should feel confident in the fact that if anything should go wrong they will sort it out. First class service.

BTW Rhys if you read this did you get your prob sorted??

I feel the same about Videologic too Robby. Excellent service and nice people to deal with to boot.

They to date have replaced my sub three times. The early one's had problem with rattle and distortion and the DTS issue you pointed out. The current ones (providing their quality control is on the ball now) are great and my current one would be blasting away if it wasn't for the fact that I am DVD playerless at the moment. :/

Why oh why do days go by sooooo slowly when you have no DVD player. :(

Erm...I have a DTS Videologic system, and I was wondering what problems were being experienced by you guys? I bought it about a year ago, and the only thing I have noticed is a slight hum emanating from the sub-woofer, and the fact that it takes 2 or 3 seconds for sound to kick in when starting a movie off.

Stigdu i guess it depends when you bought your Digitheatre.

I bought mine when it was released in april or May last year. I then experienced some cutouts when watching DTS movies, namely the Mexican and Cast Away being big offenders.

I queried it with the guys (and gals;)) on here and found out that it was because of my early model. If you don't experience any cutouts on DTS tracks then you're fine. I can't say i've noticed any humming, maybe you might need to reposition the sub.

stigu: The hum thing is a fault if it's noticeable and rises in volume when you turn the volume up. The slight delay in changing source is a ahem "feature". Very annoying it is too with some disks. The interviews section on Shrek R1 spring to mind. Can't complain for the money it cost though.

One day i'll get me a "proper" amp and speakers but my trusty Digitheatre DTS will do me for now.

Thanks for the quick response chaps. The hum is pretty low really, and it doesn't rise in volume when I turn it up. I can live with the 3-second delay thing. Looks like it's ok then. Cheers.

Lucky you!.

Does that mean you've got some "spares" now then?!. I was a happy customer aswell, but I didn't get THAT kind of treatment (I almost feel cheated now!). Videologic can be pretty unpredictable actually, but their generosity obviously knows no bounds!.

They're definitely one of the best companies around for after-sales service though. I was surprised by how happy they were to exchange my sub (no-questions-asked) and it's unusual to be offered assistance so readily. I half-expected a bill for delivery/labour charges, but it didn't cost me a penny.

Glad it worked out for you anyway robby.....

(wonder what happened to Rhys?).

Tony, did they not send you another centre speaker/decoder?.

I did think it was rather strange, as you originally said it was a fault with the sub. When i opened it i thought hang on they've sent me the wrong system. But the invoice states everything is correct. So maybe they're just shifting old stock onto me, their probably coming up with a new system. A 6.1 or something.

No, not a sausage.

All I got was a replacement sub (not that I'm complaining of course). The sub was the only faulty part of my set-up, so that's all I was expecting anyway.

I'm not exactly sure why you got all that extra stuff, but you never know, it might come in handy one day.

I seem to recall reading a post waaaaaay back in the mists of time saying that the cause of the delay is the decoder trying to auto-detect what kind of signal it's receiving.
Sounds plausible enough to me, but not having used any other DD/DTS decoder, I don't know if this is a common "feature" or not.

Ron,
The rattle problem you had, did it appear to be coming from the exhaust ports on the rear of the sub? I have just received my fourth sub replacement and every one has rattled during really heavy bass moments. A good one to test is the beginning of 'Final Fantasy', from the Columbia logo upto the opening titles. If anyone has this, listen to the sub unit and post your findings.

I was intrigued by your last post and thought i should check out this hum. I have a copy of Final Fantasy and did what you said. Sure enough there was a distinct hum, almost a rattle. I can't say it bothered me that much. When i first watched the film i put it down to my Playstation vibrating ( which i keep on my sub) but when i checked just now i could still hear it with the PS off.

It's no big problem and one that i wouldn't have really noticed had it not been for your post. I Watched Swordfish the other day and that was fine and i just tried the most loudest sequence i could find (the plane scene in Fight Club) and that was all fine.
I don't think it's anything worth chasing up anyway.

I even got a yell from downstairs when i kept playing the plane scene over and over, first time ever i think. (God i love Home Cinema:D :D  )

I find that scene in Close Encounters Of The Third Kind (DTS soundtrack) where Neary gets a suntan at the crossroads is THE heaviest sub shaker of note in my collection. The sub plays this at very high volumes without distortion. The ones I had replaced couldn't handle this scene at any dramatic volume at all.

I watched Final Fantasy the other week and I don't recall any problem with the sound. I've no player at the moment so you'll have to wait a while before I can test your scenario. :(

Ron,
Have you got your player back yet? If so, please run the test we discussed and post your findings. If not, don't forget when you do get it back!:p

Albertz: The new player arrives this afternoon (movie fest imminent :D ) but i've lent my FF disk to a friend for the weekend. I'll do the test when I get it back and post here. :)

Cheers Ron! Look forward to the results. Incidentally, I've been talking at length to Jason Voice this week who is at pains to come up with a solution to my problem (after all, I am on sub unit no.4)! He has admitted that maybe certain DVD's low frequency signal is too much for the DigiTheatre to handle. I suppose ya gets what ya pays for!
