I need to return the Sony HTK250 that I bought because it didn't have Analogue multi channel outputs.

Empire Direct have sent me the returns form but the clause with unwanted goods is that: "will only accept return of unwanted items provides they are unopened and in pristine condition"

Now, I've packed it all up as it came and it's in pristine condition, but it's pretty obvious that I did open it (I had to before I knew it wouldn't work!)

Has anyone had to return unwanted goods in the past? will they still accept it?

Also, it was delivered via Courier in the actual Sony box rather than being put into an outer or wrapped up. Is it worth putting it in an outer plain box for the return journey just to be on the safe side?

Direct selling regulations give you at least 7 working days to return the product, whether it's been opened or not (excluding CDs / DVDs and Software) so as long as it's in good condition you should be fine.

Send it back :-)

Thanks.

I'll make an outer box for it, just to be safe.

You have 7 workings days to inform them you wish to cancel (return it). Not necessarily to return it.

Are ED uplifitng the item FOC? I don't think they have to but you could try. If they don't, still get them to uplift it and take their charge out off the refund, that way if it's damaged it's their look out.

Did you not check the spec beforehand?

I did, but it wasn't very specific on the website.

I also didn't really understand the intracacies of 5.1 surround sound with regards to PC Soundcards. I knew my Audigy did 5.1 surround and that you could hook up the Digital Din to a Coaxial input, but this only gives you 5.1 in Movies.

The only soundcard with on-the-fly DD 5.1 decoding if the Nvidia Nforce Soundstorm, and the quality is a bit pants.

Technically, I have no idea what it is you're talking about :)

If the goods weren't advertised in a clear manner then I wouldn't be looking to pay any return costs. if it was your error then you should maybe just cough up.

ED are actually quite good for customer service, although they have been a tad slow on the reply emails in the past (always with an apology it must be said).

Yeah, it too me about a week before I got my head around it aswell :)

I'm not too worried about postage as long as I get my £150 back.
