Anyone have any idea when The O.C. will be out in the UK? I heard the R1 edition will be coming out in October, but seeing as we R2 people sometimes get TV stuff earlier I thought it was worth asking...

R2 Warner highlights including Troy
Here is a look at what you can expect from Warner Home Video over the coming months, with all links leading to R1 announcements or theatrical reviews for you to get an idea of what to expect (though as usual, even more so with Warner, the R1 is never a solid indication of what the R2 release will offer)...

Wow! Nice catch :) That's another boxset for my list - West Wing S4 and Star Wars Trilogy are my other two.

I very much doubt the R2 will be about then. It is only starting up again in september and they won't be upto episode 27 by mid October. They will never release the dvd over here before the C4 has broadcast it

It's only in the 'rumour' section right now and nothing has been officially announced but DVDTimes are usually pretty accurate.

I’ve just watched all 27 eps in the last week. It’s great stuff, complete trash, but brilliant. Some of the characters are very likeable and there's quite a bit of comedy in it. As with most shows like this I find the secondary characters far more interesting than the main ones, this may be because Mischa Barton (who plays Marissa the 'main girl') couldn't act if her life depended on it.

if you do start watching it give it time, as the eps go on they get better IMO. The second half of the season is much better than the first.

:)

EDIT - it's like Dawson's Creek meets Sunset Beach meets Buffy (for some of the lines that characters come out with!)

Just started watching the 2nd half of the season this afternoon.

(I really noticed the pitch shift from only previously watching it on Channel 4)

Anyway, as said above, it is TV of the pure trash variety.

However, the great thing is that it is a show not afraid to mock itself or the conventions of the "US beautiful teen" genre.

Even the adult characters are well rounded and get a chance to shine - I loved the episode the other week at the swingers party and the "defying the GPS lady" scene

As also mentioned above (damn) - it kind of reminds me of Buffy (minus the monster metaphors) when it was at it's best in the first few seasons crossed with the self-awareness of Sunset Beach.

Yeah Seth is a bit like Xander.

Seth and his Dad are my favourite characters

spoiler for the season, if you haven't seen the finale don't read :D

yeah the Seth/Summer relationship is very Xander/Cordilia, glad they stayed together as I like both characters

pah, its much more fun to watch ryan and his total lack of facial expressions. doesn't matter whats happening, or what mood he's in.. it NEVER changes.

its all about seth and sandy.

The writers realise this and the show mocks itself for it - there is an episode where Seth tries to replicate Ryan's one look for everything. That's one of the reasons the show is so great - it realises what it is and isn't ashamed to make fun of itself.

One of my favourite moments of the first season was when the family were trying to get Kirsten away from the kitchen.

Anyway she goes to baste the turkey and as she fumbles around trying to pick it up Sandy says "Ahhhh thats how she held you as a baby"

Have to agree with JayX, its all Seth and Sandy. Without them the show wouldnt be anywere near as good.
