New Hardware wizard starts upinstalls the gameport etc then even when pointed towards the relevant drivers fails to install.
I downloaded drivers form creative, but when I run them they say something like 'could not find Creative Audigy2'
I previously had a SB Live Value card installed but I removed it from the hardware profile.
Windows XP fully patched,
AMD XP 1800
512 DDR
Geforce 4 Ti
Anyone any odeas
Thanks
Stephen
Do you have the driver CD inserted? Best to install from that first and then update to latest version. Can't say I've had a problem using that approach with my own Audigy 2, which has been through the odd reinstall over time.

Yeah tried that waggett to no avail.
When I try to install from the disc it very quickly gives me this message "Setup could not detect Sound Blaster 2 on your system...etc etc"
WinXP does detect that there is hardware installed it just dosn't find any drivers for it even when pointed to the approoriate folder.
More details:
Mobo : MSI KT3 Ultra MS-6380E Ver1.0
I've updated the via drivers but havn't yet flashed the bios since I don't have a floppy drive
Oh and the Audigy is a Refurb bought from the Creative website.
did you uninstall the old SB drivers, which is different to removing it from the hardware profile
I had this problem when I got my PC from Mesh. After a re-install, it wouldn't detect Audigy when I tried to reinstall from the CD. Turned out Mesh had sent me the wrong CD!! I had a blue one when I needed the Gold one (basically the wrong version!)

Are you sure the card is sitting in the PCI socket properly?
Does the motherboard have onboard sound? If so it may be causing conflicts with the card and you have to disable it in the BIOS.

Yes it does have onboard sound and disabling it didn't help. It's definately seated properly otherwise I don't think windows would have detected it at all - anyway I've tried it in 3 different pci slots
Definately the right software I even tried the XP Drivers from the creative site
gregh

I removed from the hardware profile - how do I uninstall the drivers?
This is driving me up the wall
I want to play my Thief 3

installed SP1 on Windows XP and still the same problem of not finding the hardware.
I managed to get a spare hard disk I formatted it and installed Windows XP on that, With no other installations or old drivers it still could not find the hardware.
Can't think of naything else to do
I've re-installed the SB Live so I guess that will have to do for a while longer :|
Thanks for your help
All you do is run the setup but when it prompts saying you have no Audigy 2 soundcard, leave that screen up. Go to Device Manager, go to the Driver Search there and look through the Directories inside your Temp Directory - one of these will contain the unzipped Audigy 2 drivers - this will allow the drivers to install properly!

cheers John316 tried that and had some success, but the damn thing still wouldn't install properly.
Tried it in a mates pc and had the exact same effect. Couldn't be arsed farting around with it anymore, sending the bugger back

Ah, thats just giving up!
Is this one of the Creative refurbs by any chance? If so odds are that it is faulty :(
I had a similar episode with a Creative refurb GFX card - actually had three replacements in a row  - and all were faulty! I ended up getting a refund after lots of hassle. Has put me off buying anything refurb.
It seems to me that Creative seem happy to fire out returns without even testing them :brickwall
I bought an OEM Audigy 2 a while ago for use with Win XP and had no problems installing - which also replaced a previous SB Live! and I didn't remove previous drivers beforehand.

Did you have to pay P&P for sending the card back to Dublin?
