I know some of you were getting Play It Again, Sam- what's the verdict on the dvd i.e. picture quality, audio etc?
Also, Sweet and Lowdown(£9.99 at Play) - what's the forum opinion on this? It was conspicuous by it's absence in the favourite Woody film thread last week.
 (Just for the hell of it!)

As far as I can see, Play it Again Sam is pretty much in line with the MGM 1970s Woody Allen discs - anamorphic transfer, mono sound, both up to expectations in terms of technical quality.
Sweet and Lowdown - heart warmingly good! :p
I think both discs (r1/r2) are identical (anamorphic & mono).

Sean Penn was excellent sarcastic and offensive self in Sweet and Lowdown, and Samantha Morton was nominated for best actress for her silent performance. It's very funny, in anti-Adam Sandler way.

Is there any other way?

Play it Again Sam (http://www.thebigpicturedvd.com/cgi-bin/master/viewer.cgi/Play_It_Again_Sam) is very nice. Don't see how it could be any better.
I had the Region 1 Sweet and Lowdown (http://www.thebigpicturedvd.com/cgi-bin/master/viewer.cgi/Sweet_And_Lowdown) and I enjoyed it. Good disc. Never kept it but I'll prolly go back to it.

Just to add I was really impressed with the sound on Sweet and Lowdown. The guitars sound wonderful - despite being mono.
