Just spotted this on ebay. Does anyone know if this is an official release or a pirate? I've tried finding more info on the HK release but to no avail so far.
Your thoughts please
Hivizone have had the R3 version of Jin Roh on sale for some time. Not sure what the specs are. This might be a new re-issued version. No reason to suspect it's not legit.

I did know about the original R3 release, but thought it had no dts audio track which is why I find this more than a little questionable. I'm sorely tempted to bid for this little puppy if it is the real deal, especially with the spanky dts track, but if it's not... then money well spent, me thinks not.

Looks like it is a genuine copy.
Hivizone and Coolashop both list the DVD as having a DTS soundtrack as do both the reviews here

I do think the ebay auction is a little expensive though, just placed an order for the film with Coolashop and it came to a grand total
HK$135.00 = £11.82 inc p&p
Should do until the rather nice R1 special edition comes out ;)

*koff**koff*get it from http://www.dddhouse.com , http://www.coolashop.com or http://www.hivizone.com , it's cheaper by almost half of the ebay asking price*koff**koff*
Just to note to you. There are no chapter stops, and the ability to rewind/go back is disabled. It's also very slow moving imo (but still good), expected from Mamoru Oshii though.
However, you could wait for the region 1/ region 2 (French) releases, as they are 2 dvd set with an additional cd sountrack in a fold out case ("fight club" type, etc, etc...) in the new year.
beat me... :D
Good transfer, free from dust although looks a bit washed out. Supposedly still better than the original french release.
Sound is good also, but not heard the DTS track, but supposed to be good.

Dont think the R1 release is out till March and last I heard the French release wouldn't have English subtitles.
Guess it all depends on how long you want to wait to get a copy...
...note that the 2-DVD+1-CD French Edition Collector (scheduled release: 22 November) will have dts sound, but French subtitles only!

. . . :o . . .
R1 is 5th March, the french version has no subs while this legit HK version gets pretty good reviews but has a faulty DTS track...

Jeez Louise. Sod ebay then. As a rule I don't buy dvds off ebay anyway, but I saw this and it stood out for some reason. Probably those 3 little letters. dts.
Does it take very long for discs to arrive from coolashop?

I've never used them before so I don't know for sure.
But from other peoples comments I'd guess 7-14 days would be about right.

Sounds ok to me, and should definately tide me over until the R1 :p
I'd certainly recommend Coolashop. They usually deliver in less than a week.
