View Full Version : Internet Explorer 6 'view source' problem
Hi all, help needed please.
For no apparent reason I am suddenly unable to view the source code from any web pages. No longer is a right click/view source or view/source effective.
Have I turned some function off somewhere or is it a problem/bug that's developed with my browser?
Any advice appreciated please.
Does it happen on all web pages or just some ?
I had this problem too, I think a reboot cured it..very annoying ; until i switched to firefix :D
where you using another program to view source? ie had a program installed itself to be the defualt view source?
If thats the case then it sounds like the programs gone, but its left its settings in the registry.
I know this one, I know this one
You need to empty IE's cache. If it gets too big, it suddenly stops being able to do 'View Source'. Set it to be a bit lower, and it won't happen again.
if thats true what a goddamn stupid bug. You can see why it happens, for view source to work IE has to save the page somewhere, if the cache is full it can't...but jesus!
actually Vicster is 100% right, the reboot I have also runs a batch file to delete all ie cached files :suspect: so he's right

Yep, I've come across this before too. What makes it even worse is that this bug has been in IE for *at least* 5 years! :oh-hum:
Yup, I get this on a regular basis (web developer, so I have to view source a lot).
Its pretty rubbish. If it weren't for the fact that IE is bundled, it wouldn't be used anywhere near as much.

It's as stupid as the bug that prevents you from saving images as anything other than BMP format. Again it's usually to do with the cache, but I've had it where I've never been able to clear it even with the recommended methods. The only workaround works on a temporary basis (per file), by right-clicking and select the email image option, but cancel it, then you can save the image.:searchme:
That bug has been there since IE4 and still not fixed :oh-hum:.
The solution is Firefox
Nice one guys, thanks for the advice, it's working fine now.
I hate it when there seems to be no reason for odd things like that.
Thanks again
