I have just got ITV Digital (Nokia Mediamaster) and have a perfect picture, but i have the following problem.

A 17 year old gimp who lives nearby has just got a moped / scooter type thing, and everytime he rides past my house the picture freezes, pixellates etc. The interference disappears as soon as he is past my house. This interference is also present on normal tv transmissions, but only produces flickering lines for a moment.

I think that this is caused by the ignition of the moped not being properly supressed, unlike car ignition systems.

Is it possible to buy such a thing as a filter that would eliminate this interference as it is driving me mad!

Of course I could also sabotage the annoying gits moped! :D

You could try some Ferrite rings from Maplin (about 2.50 for two). You then wrap the aerial down-lead around the rings a couple of times at both the aerial end and the ITVD Box end.

Try this first as it's cheap. If that doesn't help, try a filter type 4-way on the ITVD box (ask at Maplin and they will help you). If you have a booster, it is worth putting the booster on the same filter, or if the booster is on its own in the loft, try the filter on the booster first.

Another easy tactic is to re-route the aerial leads if they are in the loft etc. It is surprising what a difference a new route can make.

Cheers for the advice mate,

Might try the ferrite rings idea, if it works i'll be well pleased for a fiver!

When you refer to a filter type four way, do you mean a four way booster with an inbuult filer, or am I on totally the wrong track?

Errrm...

He just looks like one riding that moped, thinks he is Phil Daniels or something.

Just, sorry for being so thick, do you mean a four way extension lead with a filter, like the type you get for PC's?

Yeah that's the kind of thing. I am not sure what Maplin sell, but they will have something to do the trick. Ask at their 'techy' counter for a mains filter 4-way strip and tell them that it is ignition interference that is the problem. Also ask them if you can take it back if it doesn't solve the problem (they should do).
