Does anyone know if the R4 release is cut like the R2? as I've been told that the R4 disks are the same as ours!

Is there an easy way of checking this? Perhaps if the UK R2 version has copyright messages for New Zealand and Australia it will indicate that they are the same.

I'm waiting for the R4 version mid November, however waiting until June 5th for Season 4 seems like an eternity.

Region 2 only has UK and Ireland copyright notices.

that might explain why its released here first!

So it is possible then that the UK is the exception and Region 4 will get the same as mainland Europe.

:)

Bring - it - onnnnnnnnnnn!

The fact those good folks in Aus seem to start making vociferous protests every time something cut gets released there may just have influenced Fox in this matter …;)

R4 is wonderful. Great prices - buy 'em 2 at a time from Ezy DVD and they cost less than R2s from Play247; they usually take less than a week to arrive; and the array of uncut-ness is impressive (Mummy Returns, Goldeneye, True Lies ... ). Plus they're PAL - and if I ever get some decent equipment (matron!) I'm sure I'll appreciate the difference!

Buy em one by one from devoted.com.au and they still work out cheaper than R2. e.g. Swordfish - £11.17:)

Bullets'n Babes (http://www.bulletsnbabesdvds.com) are reporting that Buffy Season 3 is uncut in Region 4, pointing to a Review (http://www.dvd.net.au/review.cgi?review_id=1032) at DVD Net.

Quoting from the DVD Net.au review directly

"And so to the news many will be waiting for. Whilst the UK censors saw fit to extricate from this third season such trivial things as Giles' hotwiring his clunky old Citroen (whilst leaving in all manner of gruesome slayings - go figure), the region 4 release is taken from a European master, and as such all reported English severings have not been foisted upon us. There are still chops however, but only in the form of the 'Previously on Buffy the Vampire Slayer' introductions (as with previous local DVD releases) - although curiously two of them actually do appear amongst these eleven episodes."

Damned BBFC and Fox UK. Shame Fox Australia haven't given R4 buyers the option of the 'book' packaging too.

Not only is the region 4 uncut and cheaper than the region 2 it also comes in proper cases (according to the nice man at ezydvd)

I bought Season 2 from EzyDVD for that very reason. I know the packaging is less of a problem for Season 3 in the UK, but for Season 2 I didn't want to take any chances.

Generic plastic keepcases over the attractively designed season three book. Hmmmm, tough one that.

As stated above, the R4 is cut - it’s missing the "Previously" segments (and what is up with including two of them and not the rest!!??). Cost not an issue, as with the help of EBay I got the S3R2 set for £20 and change and I don’t have to look at those awful R4 covers. Even so, for the sake of a couple of quid and the risk of customs I’d still plump straight for the R2 - two tiny cuts in 935 mins of programming are not enough of a dissuasion.

The review (with only two previously on Buffy recaps) is for the first three disks of Season 3 in Region 4, I think.

I prefer the individual cases myself - It's region 4 for me.
