Superb theme tune as well.
Was it my imagination or in one episode....
was Magnum killed and he spent the episode as a spirit or ghost. I was sure it was the final episode as I thought he walked off into a bright light at the end, but having read an episode guide it doesn't seem to be?!

sort of...
that was supposed to be the end of the show, but then again the producers changed their mind (sort of riots from the audience, or whatever), so they brought him back the next season.
but I remember being shocked after watching that episode, thought it was the worst way to end the show they might set up.

You’re not dreaming. It was supposed to be the final one but he agreed to do another season in order to give the rest of the cast & crew time to sort out other jobs.
Yes, and they all went onto bigger and better things because of it...

Nope. They wouldn’t release him from his Magnum contract so he couldn’t do it, just like Brosnan couldn’t get out of Remington Steele to do Bond. Selleck was actually good enough to make fun of his brush with Indy on a final season Magnum episode called "Raiders of the Lost Art".
Well I've seen Selleck interviewed where he said HE made the choice to go for a series rather than a movie. Production on Magnum didn't start until after all filming on Raiders had finished.

Any news on season two? I can't wait any longer....
I was only a casual fan before, but now I'm hooked and need to see all 8 seasons badly.
