I liked it when Frank wiped his nob over the World Cup at that photoshoot they did, then it cut to Deschamps etc kissing it.

Also, their montage of the best bits of the World Cup to nice music which comprised of that single photo of Maradonna and his acorn in the shower

Phoenix from the flames reminded me how bad Scottish football has become so quickly. Eight years ago and they caused England problems and look at them now. Spanked by Wales (though to be fair, are a decent side) and other than getting a gritty result against Holland before being taught a lesson in the reverse leg they've been beaten by some pretty awful sides. They'll be worse than Northern Ireland soon.

And before anyone gives me stick, I'm a proud Englishman who always wants the home nations to do well too!

I can't stand this show, its the 'lightest' program ever - after the annoying theme tune (which you hear about 20 times with them singing varying meaningless lyrics to, driving you round the bend) they introduce possibly the most stupid studio audience in any show, ever, in the history TV that just chanting anything put into their head 'Statto! Statto!' or perhaps 'a Window! a Window!' they bring on some random guests who know nothing about football, ask them a couple of questions, again, nothing to do with football, then make them sit there for the rest of the show whilst they attempt to be funny - wasting 3 minutes "recreating" a goal in the most unfunny manner possible - if you gave these guys the world's funniest joke to tell (see Monty Python) it would send you to sleep. Such is my vitriolic hate for this show, I just have to walk out of the lounge when it comes on, unfortunately my house mates actually enjoy this horse manure...

Re: Tonights Phoenix from the Flames and Houghton trying to prove that he was Irish.

Fantastic. It may have crossed a line, but hey it was hilarious anyway.:D

It was very funny indeed. but not as funny as the "I scored against Ayelsbury" Peter Beardsley sketch!

I watched my old Fantasy Football tapes (1995 approx ) the other day and have noticed that the new series is no where near as funny. It is still good but the old ones are so much better especially Phoenix from the Flames and old football was rubbish was class.

Yup, they were much better. I'd imagine they weren't live though which affects things slightly.

Went to watch this last night! It was fantastic! Managed to blag some VIP passes so sat in the green room to watch the match before hand with Gazza and Ms Ellison with free booze etc. Then it was into the studio for the show which was very good. It is well worth trying to see this. Skinner was funny as hell in the interval and at the end of the show they do other bits of material to test it for future shows so its really laid back and so funny!
Had a great night!

I didnt really watch it when it was on the bbc so cant really compare, but its certainly worth watching i think even if some of their jokes are rather hit and miss.

It was good to see Gazza on tv again last night (last i saw of him was that bbc documentary of when he went to China), i hope he's doing ok now for all his faults, what with being the typical flawed genius that he is.

I love the show man! Back in the day on BBC it used to compete for my attention with Eurotrash (yep, that's how good it was!).

Ok, so the jokes are a bit hit-and-miss but Frank and David know when that happens and recover well. The funniest thing was Tord Grips sudden change in emotions! As for Gazza, I havent seen him look so healthy in a long time. Long FF continue for future World and European Cups!

In the old days didn't they actually run a fantasy football competition and then have the guest on to see how their teams were doing? Certainly makes the title have a more relevance :p

Yes, they used to do a fantasy league but then it was on every week. I wish they'd bring it back, I think sky sports should offer them a huge wad to do it on SS1 every week

Great idea in principle - but in practice the show wouldn't work before the watershed! The old show was 10pm on a Friday night as a preview of the weekend's matches. Would make sense to have it on then, with repeats at midnight and 2am for those coming in from pubs and clubs!

Was quite affixed on Ms Ellison, I have to admit! Gazza was ok! Wierd really cos he wasnt drunk and loud as you always imagine him to be! He hasnt drunk for a year and is on the atkins diet etc etc. He looked quite pale really, dont know if this came across on the TV??
He was a funny guy tho, well nice to chat to, even if it was a brief chat before we all got moved on!!

Oh yeah, now you mention it, that rings a bell now, for some reason i had it my head that it used to be on Sunday mornings on bbc2, mind you i didnt watch it regularly back then so that's probably why i was wrong on that.

I think one of the best shows this series was last Friday's one, when they went into Tord Grip over-drive! Overall, the shows have a mixture of hits and misses. The Statto chanting is starting to grate a bit now.

Sadly, I couldn't see Sky going for the show - they'll probably feel they've got the "comedy slot" filled by Soccer AM.

I think the whole series has been very poor. A couple funny moments in the whole thing. Just seems like they aren't putting any effort in.

The funniest bits are when Frank forgets he's presenting and Dave has to give him a nudge.

It was repeated on a Sunday lunchtime for a while, and they used to joke that it was pointless watching as most of the jokes were either censored or cut.

Gazza looked pale?! To my untrained eye he appeared to be almost orange. The wonders of studio lighting and make-up eh?

Overall, I've enjoyed this series, although it seems we get one good show, then a more duff one. You've got to remember that the entire thing is done live, and they don't have a massive amount of time to prepare each show.

In fact, I kind of like it when a joke falls flat on its face (like the Tord Grip follow-up they did) - TV these days is far too polished and it's nice to see a live show with its various cock-ups, and the reaction of the presenters.

Nah, I disagree, yes the Ledley King interview was :oh-hum: but Phoenix was amusing, the Harry Redknapp clips were  and most of the "things we noticed from watching EURO 2004" clips were pretty good.

Was that the last episode? there was no hoo-haa whatsoever about it being the last. :( bit **** off with that. I thought the Ledley King interview was quite good to be honest. Good on him to go on there and give a decent interview, although you could tell he was nervous.
Bring back Greavise as a guest and take the pee out of him going senile!
