Hi all,

Thought I should post this here rather than in the bargain forum. Fingers crossed I should be receiving a tomtom3 and ipaq 2210 next week - the pcworld deal for £299.

Was wondering what else I needed?

I know I need an extra memory card and have seen a Kingston compact flash 512mb from valueflash.co.uk for £59.55 incl delivery. Good price or not?

Do I also need a card reader for that? Apologies for being thick but first time getting one of these pocket pdas, etc.

Thanx all, oh and run win xp too.

A card reader makes life a lot easier - copying large maps to an SD card using ActiveSync is prone to errors.

One thing to note - if you use the "copy maps to card reader" option in the TomTom installer it puts them in the root folder of the memory card and TomTom can't find them. You need to copy them to the My Documents folder than everything will be fine.

Following the cheap PPC and GPS post I am now reasearching my best options, and wondered if it was better to hang my nose out for a better specced PPC, like the 4150?

The more you wait the better PPC you'll get, it's like PCs

i have the 2210 and its been fine (USB on a via chipset as well)

I got a 256 meg card, but this is a pocket PC, if you want to play MP3's and videos then the bigger the better!

also if you get SD then you can put things like wireless bits/etc in the CF slot, so have extra memory as well as wireless!

this kit is excellent BTW, been out today and was so uselful for navigating home!

cheers all for the responses, some really good advice.

so homerj, wud u recommend staying away from the 512mb compact flash and just getting a 512mb sd card instead, any idea of prices, links to sites, etc.

andy, will look into where to get cheap card readers too, thanx again for advice
