Does anyone else hate the current vogue for silver TVs, hi-fi etc.
I wouldn't mind at all if everything came in a standard choice of black or silver, but... when you are forced to buy silver kit if you don't like this colour/have all your other kit in black, and knowing that everything will be black again next year when the fashion changes, it's very annoying
Anyone else annoyed by this?

And to make matters worse Pioneer's new DV747 looks like being silver only.
I had planned to get a champagne one and merely squirell away my DV737, also champagne, away in the night so the wife would never notice. I just can't do it until the champagne one comes along. When it dies she will never know!

Bloody women!!
All Hifi/AV kit should be black - every other colour should be made illegal.
And CLH - champagne/gold is even more repugnant.
BRING BACK THE BLACK!!!!!!!!!111
Agreed it's horrible. I have no excuse and hide my head in shame.
I'm stuffed either way. Either I don't get one or I get a gold one.
All my other stuff is black, honest.

i want all my kit to be champagne gold. i like it :) I am also going to remove my 717 during the night and replace with 747http://www.freakygamers.com/smilies/s/ups/fireslash/wink.gif
incedently, anyone got any thoughts on whats going to win the 5.1 dvd audio war: dvd-a or sacd?
Frustin, I like your style.
From all of the reviews (and I take them with a pinch of salt) SACD is much better. Of course with the 747 you don't need to care!! My local dealers reckon it will come in champagne so our middle of the night sorties seem to be safe!!!
The only other problem I can foresee is if the remote is vastly different or if my wife asks me why the disk drawer is now glowing blue!!! I'm more than heopful that she will never know!
i dont think that will be a problem for me as I own a pronto. I wouldnt think there will be to much bother with using the same codes.
Personally I much prefer Silver/Champagne to black any day of the week, but then i'm a girlie ;)
Black is just soooo boring.
laura.
Black is soooooo nineties - silver is the way forward - only I wish manufacturers could agree on what silver is (dark, light, grey, shiny, matt etc, etc) at least with black you could be sure it was going to match.

Yes, but do you remember those silver tower hi-fi systems from the early 80s?
What goes around comes around. Pretty soon, silver will be seen as yucky and fake (after all, it's plastic pretending to be metal), and we'll be back to cool, sophisticated black.
I just wish manufacturers would offer the choice of finish as standard. Then everyone would be happy.

Personally, i'd like the option of Lamborghini dark metallic electric purple for all my A/V kit but there you go. I really don't care what colour it is as long as it works.

SOME OF US are old enuff to remember when ALL Hi-Fi gear was silver the first time round. I once had a big silver NAD amp with analogue meters and switches like frying pan handles...oh how we danced and sang with joy around our gas lamps when all the kit went a lovely, uniform black....now look at it..... next thing you know, those horrible shapeless baggy jeans will be all the rage again...! :D

Great! I'm going to buy one of these when it becomes available and wasn't too keen on the gold colour, although the champagne finish on the 939 is quite nice.

This girly doesn't like silver :brickwall
Bring back black!!!!!!!
perhaps the hi-fi manufacturers need to follow mobile phone trends and make hi-fi's with 'snap on' covers. That way the wife/girlfriend can choose the one that matches the curtains etc :-)
