Just changed my tower to a nice chieftec dragon and put a new motherboard in and put my xp2000 back in it.
Now my motherboard shows it as an athlon 1.13 it used to show in my old board as a xp2000 1.6 ghz when I upped the fsb to 155 it showed xp2600 1.94ghz.

I know some of you will say I shouldn't have bought a PC Chips board. But i put my old board(syntax 266 very similar to the pc chips board m811lu) back in and that shows 1.13?
Could i have broke the chip?

Help!
Thanks!

You sure the FSB is set right? Sounds like its at 100 instead of 133?

FSB at 100. Reset to 133.

Put the multiplier up to 12x (it's currently 8.5x).

PC World (search the bargain forums) were selling the DFI Infinity board for only £49 delivered. Why are PC Chips still in business??

How would I do that? I didnt think I could alter that in my bios? both boards had simillar bios.
The syntax had a volatage adjustment but the pc chips didn't.
Do you think the pc chips board has altered the chip in some way?
Thanks

Because they are cheap and have everything onboard (hence are attractive to builders) ;)

An XP2000 clocks at 1.667GHz @ 133MHz FSB. At 100MHz FSB, the speed will drop to 1.25GHz.

Sounds like the multiplier afterall :)

Can anyone tell me if my cpu is now stuck at 1.13 or is there a way I can get it back to its full 1.6.
Dont know how to change the multiplier?

When I cleaned the heatsink gunk off did I do something to damage chip?

I've heard of a wire around pins to unlock?
Need Help Please!
Thanks

In the BIOS settings there is usually an option (under 'advances shipset features' or something like that) to change the multiplier. Usually this works fine if you set it to automatic.

If you can't find the setting then you could try removing your motherboard battery for 5 minutes.

(On more rubbish boards there are sometimes dip switch settings on the actual board to alter the multiplier, but I assume you didn't actually change anything on the board.)
