dvd lens cleaner?

a couple (only a couple) have started, during playing, to go a funny pixalation, till eventually it stops playing and freezes on screen. I was wondering if this was something to do with the lens needing a clean.

I also cant seem to play some cd's on it but i can others. It just spits them out. Original disks we are talking about here not cdr's.

anyone got any ideas? I have a pioneer 717.

I had the same problem which was fixed by the lens cleaner - pick one up between £10 - £12
