View Full Version : West Wing
Does anyone know when the new season's West Wing is going to be shown on Channel 4. I want to see it in its entirety so didn't start watching it when it started on E4 cos I know for a fact I would miss or forget to record some of the episodes.

at the moment channel 4 are refusing to coment on anything! they cannot give a date for series 4 and say there are no plans to show it at the moment but are not ruling it out for definate!
Put it this way, Play have the season 4 box set down for later in the year, and I think you are more likely to get that first than a showing on C4 :(
edit - and another reply from C4

Thank you for your e-mail. Although THE WEST WING has a fiercely loyal fan base, relatively very very small. For this reason it has been difficult to justify a time slot for it on Channel 4. That is not to say that it will never come to Channel 4, but it hasn't been scheduled at this time.
Cheers for that - even though its not what I wanted to hear!!!
At least I know whats going on anyway
:(

which has nothing to do with the fact they keep on changing the schedule, whilst being always too late
lack of push, lack of good timeslot.. i mean honestly.. do they think programming like Wife Swap is *better* than The West Wing? of course its not. its cos they force the advert down peoples throats permenently, and they know at 9pm x percentage of the country is gonna hit c4 no matter what crap is on.

West Wing
Alias
NYPD Blue
Scrubs
Chris Isaak Show
Angel
Sopranos
Frasier
All treated with varying degrees of contempt by C4. Only Friends, Will & Grace and Six Feet Under seem to be accorded any respect by them. Jesus, even Without a Trace gets better treatment than most shows on that list!
If they hate these shows why do they buy them? :cuckoo:

So that other channels (BBC2, Ch 5) can't show them. Neither of those would be perfect, but at least they would show them.
You would all do much better to buy the DVD's. Then you can watch them at any time and there are none of those awkward week breaks between episodes :) . I received R1 S2 last week (after it had cleared customs  ) and I watched it in 2 days.
IMO most TV shows with a continuning story are better when watched quickly. You rememwhat has been going on.
You missed out Homicide as well jonathan.e.
Problem you get with the DVDs is that unless the studio gets good sales, they dump them. Look at NYPD Blue - 2 seasons released and now they are not bothering with any more as sales were not good enough. Where does that leave people who bought the 2 seasons?
As I have said before, 4 used to be the channel of innovative TV programming and quality US shows. They now seem too obsessed with pumping out the likes of Big Brother or home makeover shows. Cheap TV, gets the viewers and thus gets the money, but in doing this, I think they have lost sight of what they originally set out to do. They still come out with some quality programmes, Omagh for one and Dispatches for another. Still they have let us down IMO.
Even when C4 do come out with quality material like 'Buried' they pull it after one series.

Look at it this way: the majority of people who what tripe like Big Brother will hopefully not procreate due to either being too fat to get off the couch, or have their genitals irradiated by prolonged CRT exposure. Eventually their numbers will dwindle, thereby reducing the viewing figures for such reality TV rubbish.
Decent programmes with high production values will some day return to the schedules once the broadcasters notice this. You just need to wait it out for a few decades. Hopefully by that time the tape masters for Friends will have degraded sufficiently to prevent C4 from showing endless repeats of that show to fill the gaps left by rubbish reality TV.

Just to be a bit smug, but RTE 1 here in Ireland just showed the last episode of the current series tonight. On the whole, I thought this series was pretty good and I just love the characters.
Can't wait now for Season 6 to be made, although, RTE won't probably start showing it until next January.
I thought the last episode was great, just like the season one finale in its mix of high drama and great comedy.
Overall, I think it has been the weakest season so far. The last eight or so in a row were all good but there was a period (eps 3 - 15 ish) where quality varied from passable to utter crap.
Anyone knw when this is going to be shown on E4???
