If so, can you tell me how you are meant to plug the receiver in? I've always plugged in both the green PS/2 mouse plug and the USB plug. However, it won't work any more and I'm trying to get a replacement off Logitech, who say only the USB should be plugged in.
Have I been connecting it right all this time or not?
i think you only need the ps/2 plug in if you need to use the keyboard out of windows, for things like bios
the instructions do conflict with the MX desktop, many people will say you need both plugged in, but it aint neccessary.
Basicaly both keyboard and mouse should happily work with just the usb. (unless u got a REALLY ancient pc)
if logitec are saying you didn't install it right, have a look at all the instructions. I'm sure there will be a section which portrays that you should plug in both usb & ps/2.
As far as I was aware the two were seperate - I have the USB lead converted to PS2 (with the converter that came with it) and that pugged into the keyboard Ps2 port, and the green Ps2 plug plugged into the mouse Ps2 port.
My impression was the USB lead was for the keyboard, and the green for the mouse. That's why you get a purple converter to change the USB plug to Ps2, as purple is always for keyboards.
That's how mine is set up, and it's aways worked fine!

Yep, mines set up the same, and I'm pretty sure thats how it says to set it up in the instructions.

I've just got the single usb plugged in and that works fine for me as I've not got any ps/2 ports on my Mobo.

Single USB here too. But sometimes I have to PS2 the keyboard if the computer crashes - it'll sometimes say no keyboard present otherwise.
But under normal operation, I can still get into the BIOS etc using just USB. Think that depends on your motherboard.
