I went to our local Hi-Fi shop today (Sound Academy,West Mids) shopping for new stuff for my gaffer and spotted this speaker kit and managed to wangle a demo.Very impressed indeed, does anyone own one of these to give me an idea on long term usage?
Initial reactions, blindfold,I would have put this at way over the £499 asking price!
BTW if Justin drops by,what are your thoughts on this,I'm running a Yammy RXV-496 amp with a Toshiba SD210E player in a smallish room, which is why this appeals to me.

I went to the Home Entertainment Show in Manchester at the weekend and I learned just three things:
The Mordaunt Shorts of which you talk were fantastic.
The Wharfedale Diamond 8 series are unbelievably good for the money.
Nearly all of the expensive gear being promoted there was embarassingly @@@@ including, without exception, every single plasma display - they were all just awful.

All I can say, is buy it! As you probably know we started stocking MS, and the THX packs arrived today, what can I say! They sound as good as my BWs I`m using at home (4k worth!). Unfortinatley you`ll never see them as a forum offer, as theres no deductions allowed on MS:( Just freebies:)
Its not a bad match for the yamaha amp, its ideal with a marantz or Pioneer, but the yam will do it justice.

So Justin, this Mordant-Short Premier pack on your site is better than the Tannoy MX AV4 speaker kit?
Would be used with that Pioneer VSX859RDS Amp I just bought from you.
BTW, the picture doesn't show up:

I've got a pair of MS 906's. Since being aquired by Audio Partnership in the late 1990's (can't remember when exactly) MS have come on leaps and bounds. I was not a fan of their earlier stuff, but what they are producing now is amazing. The styling is drop dead stunning and the insides well designed and produced.
From what I know, the 90x series and the Prem system use basically the same design as their 500 series THX certified stuff. IMHO the metal speaker cones make one hell of a difference, offering sound that still blows me away with the quality a year after getting them.
I've been looking at the prem system myself as it'll fit in with my lovely 906's.

I wouldn`t say its better, the MXAV4 is a more capable pack as its large floorstanders, this MS pack is small satellite speakers and a sub, basically compared to others like Mission C6 and other similar size packages its miles better.
