Parents are after a TV, they currently have a Toshiba 4:3 28" TV, which has served them well for the last 7 years, but they want to move to Widescreen........and this seems to be a VERY nice TV.

Any Opinions on it? is it one of the best CRT Widescreen TV's you can buy?

Cheapest I've found is QED-UK:

Anyone know of anywhere else selling it cheaper?

hmmm...

A very nice tv - I purchased one 2 weeks ago from Currys - really nice colours, sound, easy to use and very attractive (esp as its a "picture frame" tv, it doesnt take up as much room as conventional tv's) thats a very good price - I paid £1,595 for mine :( - i saw it operating side by side in the show room with loads of other models Sony, Panasonic,Philips, Thompson, Sharp, Grundig etc... and its picture quality stood out from the rest! go get one!

I've always rated Toshiba's, like I say they had one before, and i've got a 28" Widescreen Toshiba.

Currys ripped you off mate, you paid 4 pence more than the high Street price ;)

Are QED any good though?

hehe,

No mate Currys didn't rip me off, I paid the same price, I was being lazy and couldn't be bothered typing the exact price, I did actually save save myself a few quid on interest charges, 'cos I bought it on 12 months interest free - so I still get the the interest off my 1.5 k in my savings account ;). I have never dealt with QED so I cant comment.

Well, I bought one recently from John Lewis . . .

. . . for just over £1200 (using the late, lamented internet price matching deal).

Due to be delivered Saturday week - I can't wait!

Tell me what you think of it when it arrives.

They might aswell buy a really decent one that will last, more and more sky programs are going Widescreen, and they have a cheap Proline DVD player.

£1409 from www.hispek.com intrestet free (includes 3 year extended guarantee).

I'm considering buying this TV but might wait until the new year (there is a philips coming out with some new technology that increases picture resolution/clarity).

You may want to check out some of the threads in the TV section at :

Home Cinema Choice (http://www.homecinemachoice.com)

Apparently some people have had problems with this TV.
