Want to insure my Canon 300D + lenses etc. Can anybody recommend a good insurers?

Yep, House Contents Insurance. Just check whether it's covered under the standard cover and you've got the right amount to cover it and everything else in the house. If not, you may have to up the insurance value or add it as a specific item.

Unless you're travelling of course ;)


You'll need some specialist insurance for travelling as many house insurances won't cover it especially at that value, and neither will a lot of standard travel insurances.

Your average travel insurance only covers a few hundred in value for personal possessions. For home contents check very carefully the small print and value on any that do cover "away from home", but I think many only cover small amounts and may exclude prime targets such as cameras and mobile phones.

There are specialist camera insurances. They're likely to be pricey, but I've not looked into them. I'd be interested to know what to go for and what's good value.
