And if so, is it worth remortgaging for?

What amp you using?

Pretty sure Radiohead demo'd them a while back and was mightily impressed. I assume you mean the silver jobbies. 2001 What Hi-Fi award winners I think.

Yep, they're the ones.

Expensive though aren't they? I need an amp also so it'll be well pricey!

I've got some, and I've got to admit I love them dearly :)

They're very wife friendly, she didn't bat an eyelid at me spending £800 on them 'cos she thought they looked nice, and I continue to be impressed with the sound. I replaced KEFQ15s at front, KEF95.2C center, JPW ML310s at rear and JPWSW40 sub - and was amazed by the difference - especially from the fronts suprisingly. Whereas 2chan music sounded a little wooly with the old setup, possible 'cos one speaker was in a corner, it's much sharper and "bitier" with the KFT2005s. I was also able to mount the fronts much lower down the wall, due to their size, which has probably made a lot of difference too. I'm using a Sony STRDB830 amp by the way...

..I bought them using my old friend Interest Free Credit, so they're only costing me £30 a month, less than a good night out :)

Yep, they are brilliant. I'm running them with Yamaha DSP-AX620.

And my wife loves them as well. To be honest I can't see me changing them for many years.

Buy and enjoy.

Thanks fellas.

By the way Andy, where can i get them on Interest Free? I've only seen them in specialist shops that don't offer that option.

Most of the shops in the back of What-HiFi seem to have 0% options for them, Can't remember the names offhand!

Alternatively, what about a Capital One card, 0% on purchases for 6 months!

I think the company was Hi Spek - they advertise in What Hifi. I was driving down the M1 on a Sunday and took a detour to the St Albans branch on impulse (at least that's what I told the wife) - £80 down and 24 months * £30

I heard a demo of the Kefs a fortnight ago at my local Audio T and was impressed, but thought the sound too hard. I emailed Kef and asked them how long a run-in period the speakers needed before they began to function at their best and the reply was 30 hours. I then rang Audio T and asked them if the speakers in their demo room were new out of the box or fully run in. The guy didn't know unfortunately, but it seems ridiculous that you can demo a product, presumably to show how good it is, without taking the care to get all the factors right to make the best of it.

Anyway, my point is, those of you who have lived with them for a while, do you find the sound on the hard, bright side or do they settle down after some use? I can't believe they'd get that universal acclaim if they always sound like they did in that demo room...

Mine were balanced straight out of the box. in fact I toyed with keeping my Monitor Audio Silver 10i centre as I was worried that speech would be hard. I abandoned that straight away. These things are really brilliant.

I use a Yamaha DSP-AX620. I think when I demoed them they used a Denon AVR3801.

I can't say I've noticed them getting better on run in but I can say that i love them more dearly every day.

does anybody know anywhere in Birmingham (or Dudley or anywhere near there) that I could get a demo of these things?

I've currently got the Digitheatre DTS and although they're ok, I'm tending to steer towards to larger speakers with a bit more muscle and 'boom' for my next purchase.

A mindblowing demonstration could, however, change my mind :-)

I have Q15's all round and a Q95.2 centre. What you say is interesting as I wasn't expecting the difference to be that great. Are they really worth upgrading then?

I certainly noticed a difference, but I'm guessing a lot of that's down to the positioning - and the rears and sub are definitely better than what i replaced.
