USB 1 or USB 2

Hi all ...

Anybody have any idea how I can tell what USB ports I have on my motherboard? IE are they USB 1 or 2 - It's an IBM motherboard and I don't have a model number or anything...

I think SiSoft SANDRA tells you what type of USB ports you have.

Never spotted the enhanced connection before, always useful to know, I have both an Enhanced and Standard ports.

You can get a USB2 PCI card for next to nothing anyway.

Note though that with USB2 you need proper USB2 devices to take advantage of the extra speed (some USB 2.0 labelled devices aren't full USB2, but are USB1.1 high speed), and when using hubs they need to be USB2 also. If anything in the chain is USB1, you'll only get USB1 speeds.

Bagged a 5 port (4 external and 1 internal) PCI card + extension cable off EBAY for 5.99 last night ... and there were cheaper ones to be had! I just wanted it NOW! :nuts:
