A few of my friends love dance and trance music, yet if a song is more than a few weeks old they refuse to listen to it or call it "old skool"

What is that all about? Why is there so much snobbery in regards to old (??) dance music?

Give me a bit of Culture Beat - Mr Vain (1993 mix) any day :p

TBH they can hardly be snobs if they listen to trance music - officially the most uncool genre of dance music...unless it's progressive of course :p

Current trance has to be some of the worst dance music in ages. Your friends know bugger all!

Name me a current trance track that is as good as classic tracks by, say, The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, 808 State...

Some of the coolest clubs (Fabric, for example) state a policy of refusing to play trance - not that I'm saying all trance is bad - but it is common, the sort of stuff ned boy racers love to blare out their car windows.:gag:

Have to agree, your friends know nothing, the best trance is around the 97-99 period.

It's been like this as long as I can remember m8 - going back as far as 1993 - it's a type of music snobbery.

I'm loving Shapeshifters - Lola's Theme at the moment, but the minute it gets released and hits the charts, it'll go to the back of the box.

Surely similar to stuff that was shunned by the UK when the Europeans were listening to it in the early 90's.
