The bottom one kicks the ass off the top one if you want a laptop, and vice versa if you want a desktop mini machine.

Had the top one in my basket on the Dell Outlet all afternoon I think? £420 if it is that one.

:D

I know, but the Inspiron 5150's weigh in at just under 4 kilos.

:eek:

They're both laptops/notebooks.

First one: £600 all in.
Second one: £550 all in.

@blobber - £420!! :eek:

p.s. Just how much are we allowed to discuss/not discuss about the outlet?

And blobber, can you explain what you mean by that?

The P4 3Ghz will outdo the PM 1.4Ghz for speed, but is very power hungry. Therefore if you value portability, beware of the 5150 because you're never going be be able to go more than an hour or so away from a power point. The 5150 is really marketed more as a portable desktop machine.

Having had one of each in my hands recently, I'd not hesitate in buying the Inspiron 8600 over the 5150.

Although to be honest, you could both both. Low end Ebay prices for the two would be £700 and £850 respectively.

I did eventually buy them both but don't know which one to sell on.

How much slower is a PM1.4 than a P4 3? I'm not going to be really travelling with it, just need to save space in my already tiny flat (having a desktop takes a lot of room:( ). Also, which of the screens are better? SXGA+ or WXGA? It's all sooo confusing :confused:

But I do like the idea of the widescreen and it also better resolution? :brickwall

Well, the profit margin on the 8600 will be somewhat bigger. PM 1.4 is approx equivalent to a P4 2.4Ghz.
