Here's a first look at the 'Necronomicon' limited edition packaging for Anchor Bay's Evil Dead Special Edition. What you're seeing here is the fully painted third prototype of the DVD case design based on the book seen in the first Evil Dead. It has been sculpted by original 'Book of the Dead' creator Tom Sullivan. The package will also contain a few pages of Sullivan's original work as seen in the film. The disc itself will feature a brand-new THX Certified transfer approved by director Sam Raimi, and taken from the original negative just recently discovered; audio will come in new DTS ES 6.1 and Dolby-EX tracks. All of the extras available on the Elite special edition will be present on this upcoming disc, as well as some new supplements (the original 1978 short Within the Woods, most likely). The LE will also come with a 24-page booklet and a possible 2nd disc as well. Stay tuned on that one.
