The wifes Grandfather asked me about a digital TV, So not to look completely stupid I told him I'd look into it.

So I'm turning to you guys with a couple of questions.

1. I know DVB is digtial broadcasting, but if you buy a TV with DVB do you need a dish? Or will the aerial do(albeit upgraded) ?

2.Is subscription needed to recieve the basic channels i.e BBC1,ITV etc.

So I suppose what I'm wanting to know is this, can I just plug it in ?

Ithankyouverymuch.

1. Many DVB sets will work with ITVdigital so go through an existing aerial. So no I don't think you need a dish.

2. No subscription is required for standard channels, there are some extra free ones too. I think many of the sets do an offer though where you can receive rented channels for free for 6 months (i.e MTV etc).

So yeah you can just plug it in, I think they are called CAMs the cards that fit the DVB sets (some are PCMCIA format or however its spelt).

HTH :)
