[PC] Far Cry cheats... DEVMODE enabled but no godmode & no console with "~" key

Managed to start the game in "devmode" using link as instructed in post below. However the backspace key doesn't toggle between godmode nor can I access the console using "~" key.... however the "`" key on left corner of keyboard brings up a console but none of the commands listed below work.... even when I put "\" in front, it says "unknown command".... the other cheats for ammo, 1st/3rd person view listed below do work however. How do I obtain godmode?


Far Cry
Cheat mode:
Press ~ to display the console window. Then, enter one of the following codes to activate the corresponding cheat function.

Effect Code
God mode god_mode_count=1
All weapons give_all_weapons=1
Ammunition give_all_ammo=1
Quick save game at this point \save_game <filename>
Load quick save \load_game <filename>

Im not at home to test it but in Medal of Honour you used to have an option in the options that enabled the console, it might be something like that.

Try the key in the top left of your keyboard - above your tab button.

i think you need -devmode in the command line or something similar.

Tried that & a transparent green window appears. I typed the commands & none of them work.

What am I doing wrong?

Yeh devmode definately needs to be in there somewhere - though I do not remember where.

If you do a search on google it will bring up some farcry cheats (that work). :rolleyes:

Don't you create a shortcut for the game on the desktop, then right-click on the shortcut, go to properties and add " -devmode" to the target.

Mine would be this, for example:

"C:\Games\Far Cry\Bin32\FarCry.exe" -devmode

I think all the far cry console commands have to be prefixed with a '\'.

So, god mode would be

\god_mode_count=1

You can a trainer for FarCry that just requires you to press a button to enable a cheat (normally F1-F12)

I went almost the whole game without cheating until i got to the last level with all the rocket dudes. It was just too much for me so I turned to cheats then. :gag:

But yes cheats do spoil a game whether it be singleplayer or mutliplayer. :razz:

Nice what? Sometimes I've paid knocking on £40 for a game and then found it is too difficult for me. An example is Tony Hawk where I have trouble balancing for anything more than a couple of seconds. Using cheats enables me to see the whole game, and the challenges are still difficult.

I'm probably older than you!

Some games I suppose deserve cheating but in this case, I'm just talking about the mighty Far Cry. I might not complete it in a weekend, 2 to 3 savepoints a week is as much as I can take (full detail, max res on my LCD etc). It makes me jump and cheating would ruin that. (IMHO)

My work and family keep me occupied most of the time... I have very little time to spend playing games so if it's easy I finish them (eg. Call of Duty, Vice City)... this is a tad tood difficult and frustrating to play normally so I really can't be bothered wasting hours on end. ;)

I tried this on my laptop last night and had some success.

With the “-devmode” option added to the shortcut, I now have access to the all levels. I didn’t realise I had access to the all the levels until I read the link that Jimbo posted, but once I’d read that link I recalled having seen all the levels listed.

However, nothing happens when I press the “~” key, certainly no transparent green screen. Jimbo, is the key you’re referring to in you’re earlier post the “ ` ¦ ” key? (hmm.. only two of the three possible characters for this key are displayed)

Yeah, that looks like it - it's got three characters on it but I can only get two to work - "`" and "¬"

Same here. And I can't get godmode to work at all!! :help:

Glad I could help and I’m glad that you test was successful, it means that this should also work for me once I get back to my place.

I got stuck at one section of the fort level. After I couldn’t get the cheat to work last night I changed the way I was playing. Rather then try and sneak up on every one and go for the stealth approach I just charged down a tunnel type thing and let them come to me. Got to the next save point and then got my ass royally blown out the water in the same place twice, once by a boat, and then by a Helicopter after I had dispatched with the boat second time around.
