Has anyone tried linking 2 Xboxes via system link across 2 ADSL connections with fixed IP addresses?
As far as I can see, the Xbox shouldn't be able to tell the difference between this and whether the other Xbox was sitting next to it on a LAN.
Does anyone have any opinions and/or experiences?
There's a few programs out there that basically trick the xbox into thinking it's system linked with another on a separate ADSL Connection.
In fact there's a thread of all xbox connect (one of the programs) gamertags around somewhere.

Why does it need a program to trick it? Surely all it needs is the IP address of the other Xbox? (Unless of course MS restrict the IPs it'll accept to those in the private ranges)

But where exactly would you enter the IP address to connect to the other xbox?

Sorry for my ignorance. I've not tried system link before and was assuming you entered the IP address of the other machines, evidently not

As far as I know, it auto-detects other machines on the LAN. :)
