"Kiss, Poison Make Touring Team

The Kiss road show will go for yet another spin this summer, when the
veteran makeup-clad rock act tours North America with Poison in tow.
The tour will play outdoor amphitheaters beginning June 10 in San
Antonio through Aug. 4 in Atlanta. .

Kiss remains a touring juggernaut, on the heels of a 2003 co-
headlining jaunt with Aerosmith that grossed more than $50 million,
according to Billboard Boxscores. The group is in the midst of dates in Australia and Japan with a newly reconfigured lineup featuring guitarist Tommy Thayer and one-time drummer Eric Singer.

Original drummer Peter Criss claims he was not contacted by other members of the band to participate in the new dates. Of late, he has taken to his official Web site to denounce claims by Kiss bassist Gene Simmons that he is too addicted to drugs and alcohol to tour.

"The original band is over," Criss wrote recently. "And as a founding member I am not shocked at Gene and Paul [Stanley] turning a legendary band into a cover act for just plain profit. How very sad.

But the crazy thing is? The fans will still follow because they are
the real heart of Kiss. I was proud to be a part of something that
was once great."

Kiss will reportedly begin work on a new studio album this fall, its
first since 1997's "Psycho Circus." As previously reported, Simmons will release a solo album, "A**hole," May 18 via Sanctuary. The first single is a cover of the Prodigy's "Firestarter," featuring Jane's Addiction's Dave Navarro on guitar."

Be amazing to see Kiss again... but sad original members are talking like this, as is Ace - Ace's quote was along the same lines as Peter - "Flogging a dead horse" Ace said.

In one way I am glad to see them still going and yet in another I'm not !!

Studio albums are few and far between now (how many "best of's" can they release :oh-hum: ) and IMHO it should be the original 4 in make-up or take it off again and go back to the "Revenge" look with Tommy and Eric.

When I bought my first KISS album in 1979 I didn't think I'd be buying new material by them in 2004

Cann't really blame Gene and Paul though, they still make $$$ from the tours so I expect them to keep going a while longer yet.

Having said all that,a new KISS (or solo) album is still the highlight of my CD buying year :notworthy

Just hope I get the chance to see them on one last tour in the UK.

Don't panic ... I'm sure that they will still be doing 'Farewell Tours' for at least another decade

Indeed. Those holding their breath for new Kate Bush material have long since asphyxiated. They keep saying "this year..." and to be honest, I'm not entirely optimistic that it will be worth the wait.

Poison. God, I remember buying "Open Up And Say Aaah" when I was a nipper... didn't know they were still a going concern. Last I heard of them was "unskinny bop" or some such.

Not being funny, but I'm almost certain I went to a KISS farewell tour back in 2000 in St Louis. Did I dream such an event?
