I can understand why there is a cult following for this film, but really, it's horrendous, I didn't care for the story and most of the crappy songs.

Timewarp is funny, but the rest is crap, I was bored to death.

What's the point of this dung???

The following is more for the stage show than the film.

Exatcly !

I've got the film, but it falls far short of the stage show experience. The film also drags in the last hour or so. But imho (which leaves a lot to be desired acording to some of the forum members :p) thats when the best songs are finished...

Time Warp
In Just 7 Days (I can make you a man)
Hot Patootie
and the clasic
Sweet Transvestite :D

Never understood the appeal myself. But if it gives builders an excuses to wear basques and stockins for a night out then all the power to it.

I would have to differ on the point about where the cult came from. Although the stage show was hugely successful, the film flopped on release and became a cult after midnight showings in New York and other college towns. The stage show then rode the coat-tails of the film's latter day success.

I have problems with the plotting - all the best bits are in the first hour - and the sheer exhausting silliness, but the songs are very cleverly written and witty, especially "Sweet Transvestite" and "Science Fiction Double Feature" and it's nicely acted.

You miss the point. Its not the movie, its the experience.

I remember the first time I saw this movie in a quiet room. What a difference, but back in 1982 and 83, I used to experience Rocky every weekend, and sometimes twice.

My best rocky experience was in paris. I think it was 1985. I took too friends to see it who were traveling with me, and everyone in the theater was completely still during the movie. A few times I started to yell things at the screen and got promptly shushed. But after a while, I really had the place going.

I've hesitated to get this on disk though. There is just nothing like being there IMHO.

It's just a bad excuse for closet trannies to get dressed up in stockings and suzzies.

It's totally unexplainable, but I have an overwhelming hatred for The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Possibly only the way people pronounce Dalziel & Pascoe as Dee-L & Pascoe annoys me more

Oh, and Charlie Dimmock

It's a great film to go and see at a late night cinema showing with the audience participation etc but not a great film to sit at home and watch on TV.

Exactly. Another time i watched this with some friends in London. First time i'd watched it at home. All I could think of was "This film sucks". But again, the experience is totally different. What other film can you go see and yell at while its playing. What other film will you see where everyone hops from their seat to do a dance in the isles.
