View Full Version : Filthy Rich & Catflap when will it be out on DVD?
Filthy Rich & Catflap when will it be out on DVD? This classic TV series with Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondsson is pure gold. Hope it will be out on DVD soon together with The Young Ones too.
'this is England, Eddie, England, not Birmingham'
classic stuff - I would love to see this given the DVD treatment, even if it's fairly basic. It'll be better than my very worn out VHS of this...

Anyone see Mayall in Murder Rooms? A surprisingly fine "straight" actor - be good to see him doing more of this rather than hitting Ade Edmondson round the head with a frying pan ad infinitum.

" I farted so hard I sucked my trousers up my back-side!"
Great programme IMHO, better than "Young Ones" me thinks!!
I love Ritchie Rich's facsination with celebs....
"Brucey, Tarby, Tom O'Connery!!"
Richie: 'ooo, I must bone up on Tarby's book of golfing anecdotes. They are the greatest work of Eng Lit since Dick'
Eddie: 'oo-er'
Richie: 'no Dick-ins, Eddie, Dick-ins'
Eddie: 'oo-er'
:D
Yeah i also think this one is better then The Young Ones. Infact i personally think that this is a masterpiece and certainly Rik and Ade's best work that sadly haven't got the attention it deserves.
Hopefully when it's time to make a DVD they will give the proper care and attention this series deserves.
Those scenes with Jumbo Whiffy cracks me up brilliant stuff! So many good scenes in Filthy rich & catflap it's amazing. They really outdone themself here having watched almost all of their other work while good this one is something really special.
Come Eddie for fruit ! :)

classic.......:D
'would you believe it? Today is the only day of the decade that he is actually working. Yeah it sounds impossible, but he's at the BBC on 'Ooer, Sounds A Bit Rude'

Agreed Wolf. Now THAT would be a must buy DVD release!
Eddie:Goodbye Filthy Ralph ! (Eddie and Richie has decided to kill Filthy by putting knifes in the door to the closet).
This just got to come out on DVD ! Such a classic and now so incredibly hard to get ahold. My VHS copy is wearing out for every day that goes by!
I remember the shock of hearing one of the Nolan Sister's saying the word "Cr*p" and punching Richie out.
Marvellous.
Boink! ;)

Nolan: 'of course we did - why else do you think we'd appear in this load of ol' crap'
Richie: 'phwoa, a Nolan sister talking dirty to me. Wait until I tell this to the chaps!!'
and....
Richie: 'I'm being blackmailed by the Nolan Sisters!'
Eddie: 'Blimey, that is embarrassing. When it gets in the papes that you're getting stitched by the Nole's, you'll be a laughing stock. Still, look on the bright side...'
Richie: 'Which is?'
Eddie: 'It'll be the first laugh you've ever got!'
 :D
/sigh
amazing memory you have there, mate. ;)
Boink!:p
yeah - it's a bit sad tbh. It's just I probably know every line from every episode I've seen them soooo many times!
I love this thread where we can quote lines from F, R & C as I think it's probably THE most underrated comedy ever.
I must admit, I was a bit young at the time, but I dunno why the Beeb didn't take on another series. Remember when Filthy got hung but he survived - 'well of course I'm alive. I've got to be in the next series haven't I' - why BBC, why!

I reckon the Beeb got scared by the constant slagging of "major" celebs like Tarby and Brucie! :)
Seriously though, I've never heard Rik Mayall or Ade Edmonson say anything bout the series, which is a shame. It'd be nice to find out why they didn't actually do another one.
Oh, and obligatory FR&C quote coming RIGHT up...
Richie: "Eddie, this is Shakespeare, and as everybody knows, Shakespeare is.."
Eddie: "CRAP!"

Rik Mayall's scenes have been cut from the Harry Potter movie 'to cut down on time'.
I never saw FRaCF, but reading this thread looks like I missed out :(
Richie & Eddie playing Triv.
R: "Stop looking"
E: "I wasn't looking"
R: "Yes you were. You were looking at the answers reflected off my eye-balls cos they're so sparkly"
E: "Sounds like a cue for a gag about sparkling balls"
R: "Not if you ever want to work again"
Mr Jolly Lives Next Door
"Parson's off in a chopper"
"You'd have thought he'd have shown us his chopper last night!"

According to the catalogue in the Battlestar Galactica pack, this will be released on DVD sometime this year. Not very specific, I know, but at least it's coming out:clap:

You certainly have mate! The episode when Richie is on the incredibly bad gameshow has the best 15mins of continous comedy that I have ever seen in a single episode of a sit-com. It just plays up to and hammers all of the stereotypes of those sad C-list celebs and rubbish game shows that channels just churn out.
Marvellous stuff..
'They're in the mood for Richy..
He's not titchy...
In fact he's enourmously well-endowed'
(All to the sound of the Nolan Sisters 'In the Mood for Dancing' - It really doesn't get any better then this!!)

Good news but I hope we get the full episodes and not the butchered versions on the bbc VHS tapes.
Exactly - I used Blackstar's video hunt thingy to get the deleted tape and then I wished I hadn't bothered!
Great news about a release though - I've got concerns that their not gonna bother with music rights though, which doesn't bode well...

The pilot episode of Filthy Rich & Catflap can be found on the R1 release of The Young Ones box set. You will also find the pilot episode of Bottom on this set also.
Chris.
They're both the first 'proper' episodes of each series, rather than a 'pilot' in the true sense of the word.
:dork:
The FR&C ep is well worth checking out if you don't remember it or have not heard of it. Top stuff.

Now we just need The Comic Strip to get a release.
Nothing new on BBFC though - although it says 'no cuts' alongside each ep, the VHS edition of episode 6 (most notably) is massacred. No 'Oliver' scenes at all, no doubt due to music rights.
If this DVD is the same, there's no point....
Fingers crossed they sorted it.

If its cut at all im not getting it. Just like The Young Ones 2nd season.

Runtimes for the new dvd eps.
#1 (Dead Milkmen) 34'52
#2 (Game Show) 34'56
#3 (Dinner Party) 34'15
#4 (Death In The Family) 34'35
#5 (Breakfast Telly) 32'51
#6 (Smear Campaign) 32'21
So it looks like they are the same as the vhs release.
I imagine its too expensive to clear the music rights.
Oh well

wow, I remember 'Bad News'. Rik Mayall as the dreadful wannabe 'Rock God' and one of the worst videos made in the history of the world. Really, immensely funny.

"It says sausages up there, where's my other sausage?"
Maybe they could put all the 'Dangerous Brothers' sketches from Saturday /Friday Night Live on there too - that would be great! :)
As Filthy Rich & Catflap is supposed to be out today, has anyone seen it in the shops yet?
Rag
no online site lists it at all so I can only assume that the information from universal-playback is totally wrong :(

I've got the Bad News tour somewhere on VHS - must transfer it to my Archos.
As for FR&CF - great series, especially enjoyed Richies "Tarby golfing anecdotes"
If anyone has this on VHS taped from the TV (uncut?) I'll happily transfer this to AVI for them

Not suprisingly (by my user name) I am a big fan of this series.
I have them all on tape from BBC2 in the 80's.
When they turned up on satelite I remember a few cuts, most notably the line concerning Anne Diamond's baby, which tragically died not long after.
Why is universal playback the only ones who lists this DVD they even show a proper cover so has it been released or is their information totally wrong ?
