View Full Version : barclaycard warranty changes - who offers alternative?
barclaycard are changing the terms of their free extended warranty for cost of applicances bought from £50 to £150. does anyone else offer free warranty? most of the things i buy are around the £100 mark so i won't be able to register for extra warranty anymore when this comes into effect :(
Nationwide (http://www.nationwide.co.uk/creditcard/what-do-you-get/shopping.htm) on gas and electrical items costing over £50. Also good for foreign purchases as there's no commission charge.
Ian :)
cheers for that Ian, i too am considering changing from BC...
before i do, do they cover any gas and electrical item? they say they do but i always like to check to see if anyone has had difficulties :)

Here's (http://www.nationwide.co.uk/creditcard/what-do-you-get/PPI.htm) a lsit of what they cover.
EDIT: Oh, just looked again and it's a list for their purchase cover protection, but I'd imagine it would be a similar list (but don't quote me on that :) )
Don't forget that Barclaycard still offer their price match guarantee - so its worth keeping just so you can buy stuff over £150, get the extended warranty, and then get a refund of any difference after 60 days. Also keep it just incase you ever decide to get anything over £500 - then you get a two year extended warranty.

The Natiowide sounds a good one. I presume you don't have to be an existing Nationwide current account bank customer to apply for it ??
Also does anyone know of any other cards that offer a free waranty on goods bought on it.
Will probably keep the BC but its useful to have a bit of an extended warranty on cheaper stuff when there is no point in taking out a shop extended warranty. ;)
