or should i just bite the bullet and go for the R1 Canadian edition?
what is so special about the Canadian version anyway?-the chronological playback feature?

This was one of my most eagerly anticipated movies and when I finally watched it on 4:3 VHS (the horror!) I was very impressed its an excellent movie, very clever and any extras will be very welcomed.

There was a news item about the UK release recently on The R2 Project (http://www.r2-dvd.org/article.jsp?sectionId=3&articleId=2927). Which for those of you who can't be bothered to click, says:

Thanks to claes for pointing out that HMV have the following features listed for the UK edition of "Memento":

Audio Commentary By Director Christopher Nolan And Cast
Making Of Featurette
Alternative Chronological Cut Of The Film (TBC)
Widescreen 2.35:1
Dolby Digital 5.1

"Memento" is currently scheduled for a January release.

There is nothing confirmed for certain, but it looks like it will be worth waiting for.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed we get those extras, almost a dead cert though isn't it? Who would HMV get their info from?
Classy film, looking forward to getting hold of the disc

I got the US version back in September, and that had more than enough to keep me busy (including the superb website).
I'm not that bothered about a commentary or the chronological feature, so it depends on what you're wanting as to which version to go for...

I only saw it recently, so thats why I'm going to wait for the R2. The commentary is most welcome but from what I've heard the chronological viewing is a bit crap.

Most commentaries for recent films don't have much to say (I find that older films, where the director has decades of hindsight and a few more films under his belt, have more interesting commentaries), but since here are so many ambiguous and unresolved points in the film that have fuelled debate on the forums for the best part of a year (and I'm sure we'll see more debates whe the UK R2 comes out), the director's intentions might be interesting in this case - or maybe not, if you don't want everything spelled out for you.

...but from what I've heard the chronological viewing is a bit crap.

I was under the impression that a proper chronological version was being produced for the UK release. In any case, I agree, it's not the most essential feature - but could be an interesting curiosity if it is done correctly.
