View Full Version : What's wrong with my remote?

I have a Pioneer NS-DV55 ( as I think many of us here have) and my remote just usually dies within 10 days! I use it just about everyday, but not for intensive stuff, maybe just to change the volume and that's about it.

I've tried allsorts of batteries too, currently Energiser ones and they don't stand up to much either. How long does an average one last for??

My television remote has gone for longer than a year without a battery change and I use that almost constantly!

Thanks!

Sorry, i cant help you with your problem Kai, but if you have Sky Digital, have you noticed that the '0' button tends to go rather wonky after a while? Its happened to my friends and my folks in the space of a few weeks of each other. :(

Have you tried the batteries in something else to see if they are really dead?

If so, then it must be a short in the remote as no remote I have ever come across (including Prontos) use batteries in 10 days unless there is a short.

I've just used some 'fresh' dead batteries (happened again today, 8 days this time

I've just put (individually) each one in my portable minidisc player, and yes, the batteries are completely dead.

I'ce tried to e-mail upgrade heaven (Justin to be precise), but my mail keeps on bouncing. (I got my player from Upgrade Heaven)

Justin!! Where are you??

Weird! I've had mine for a few months now and there's no sign of my first set of batteries dying yet. They don't even seem to be fading yet; normally after a few months the angles you can use a remote from start to narrow, but not here.

You haven't got a button jammed down or something like that have you, so the back-light stays on the whole time?

Not sure where you are emailing, but no problems with my address (plenty of emails as usual today!). As for remote, does sound like the batteries you are using, as if they are dead when you try them in another remote, it does sort of rule out the pioneer remote:( What batteries are you using, not rechargeables I hopw as they do only last a couple of weeks tops of normal use!

I've definetely ruled out batteries.. As I say, they are completely drained everytime. Also, I've tried using three different brands: Panasonic, Energiser and some (cheap) Ikea ones. Energiser gives me a bout 10 days the others around about a week. I've not got any rechargeables. I've never had a set of batteries in that remote last longer than about 10 days or so. Strange because all my other remotes haven't had a battery change for about a year. As you can imagine this is beginning to get expensive.. Energisers aren't cheap

Is there any chance I can get another one?

Whoops! I forgot to say that I was trying this e-mail address:

justin@upgradeheaven.co.uk

it's bounced twice so far, both times, I tried to send from Yahoo webmail.

Nope, no problem with that email address, I`ve had other forum members email me tonight no problem. problem most likely lies with you using a web based free email site:(

Hi Justin,

I have sent you an e-mail today from my Hotmail account. It's regarding if it's possible to claim a replacement under warranty.

Get back to me asap, thanks

Kai

If the remote is using brand new Energisers in 10 days to the point where they won't work in anything else either, then the remote must have a short and will need replacing.

It's a very annoying problem because every time the batteries need replacing, I lose all of my custom learning functions. I just can't be bothered to reprogram it every 10 days or so.

Now, where are you Justin?

I'm sorry if this is an annoyance to anyone in these forums... but I've emailed Justin and either he doesn't respond or he doesn't receive my e-mails. I know that he visit these forums and so I've had to resort to trying to get him to respond via here..Sorry!

But Justin, can you at least clarify where I stand with my dodgy remote?

Thanks
