Although I think I already know the answers to these, I've been having a debate with a family member over these two films, as to whether they are cut or not. He says they are, but I disagree.

Seven Samurai
- Was this originally approx 8 hours long, and shown on tv in 3 parts?
- Is there a scene cut out where a samurai splits someone elses head in two with his sword?

Texas Chainsaw Massacre
- When the brother in the wheelchair gets killed, has this been cut from where you see the chainsaw come out of the back of the wheelchair?

Knowing the person who believes that these were in the original versions, I think he's confusing them with something else. :D

Any ideas?

There is no mentionhere (http://us.imdb.com/AlternateVersions?0047478) of an 8 hour version of Seven Samurai.

The only cut version of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre mentioned here (http://us.imdb.com/AlternateVersions?0072271) is in Sweden, so it looks as though the US and UK DVDs are probably uncut.

Looks as if you may be correct. :)

The only thing your brother could feasibly have confused this with is Das Boot, which was six hours long and shown in six parts.

It very much appears like that due to clever editing and camera placing (there are medium shots from behind the wheelchair of the chainsaw ripping into his chest) but there is no footage at all of the scene he describes.
