Movie Discussion Club (sounds a bit geeky I know)
- Warning Spoilers included -

Several members have expressed an interest in developing 'Movie Discussion Club' (http://thedvdforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=27030) thread where an in depth discussion can be lead on a selected film.

This thread aims to satisify this need!

Each week a film will be selected from a poll generated from the suggestions made by the threads contributors. This film will then be the basis of discussion for the thread. It is intended that you should view this film, and then as members can discuss the issues raised by one another...be it issues with the plot, direction....the special effects..etc..etc..The intentions being to hopefully give us all a greater insight into the film!

I propose that on a weekly basis a poll will be set up, on a Saturday, the film with the most votes as of Monday will then become the film for discussion. The thread will then be available for people to contribute to! This thread will remain 'sticky' at the top of forum. After the week has passed, and a new film has been selected the previous thread of discussion will be released from being 'sticky' and the new one will replace it.

As per usual the forums TC's will apply!

Regards

Paul

Due to this concept being in its infancy it will be improved and ammended over the comming weeks. SO please contribute any ideas you have in this thread, or drop me an email (paulbezzant@thedvdforums.dynip.com)! :)

A more democratic means will be in place to select the weeks film choice, however for this week....(although Haloween has been suggested I have made a selection of films that can be discussed this week:

The genre, what with the time of year...will be horror!

This poll will be open until Monday evening, the film will then be chosen and the discussions can commence! :)

Good idea, perhaps we should have suggestions.....up till Tuesday in another thread, with a poll up Wednesday with the winner for the next weeks discussion being up Friday!.....

We will fine tune things as they progress..:)

I feel the timescale of this is a little rushed -- a week probably isn't long enough to discuss the film in depth, especially if people are going to be ordering it on the basis of this thread. Maybe a film a month would be a better way of doing it.

Also, how about having 2 films under discussion every so often -- the relationship between film X and film Y, or whatever :)

Why not have the poll and the discussion running at the same time?

That would give a least a week for everyone to vote. Originally I thought the 2-week time scale would be better - 1 week to watch the film (and suggest what films should be in the next vote) and then one week to discuss and then vote on the next film.

It's worth pointng out that Halloween is on BBC1 tonight which means you don't have to fork out any cash for the DVD if you've not seen the film before

SOunds a good idea, this thread then will run until next Sunday, the winning film will then be announced with a new thread being set up for discussion from Monday. This thread will then run for a week.

While the discussion thread commences next Monday, also will another thread where we can vote for the following weeks film.

Consequently in this thread, people can make suggestions for the following weeks film...in addition to how improvements can be made to this concept..

seem ok..?

How come something that so many people asked for die so soon? Pleople, you should be ashamed!

So lets Kick-start this again, my suggestion this week is:
SCI-FI!

1) Alien
2) Matrix
3) Bladerunner
4) Abyss

I tried to think of 4 movies that most should have in our collections so that as many forum members can join in. rst - please set up the poll?

Thanks
Roberto

Also paul - can you update the thread title so that people know that it's running again.

Roberto, I tried to get this thread started as the initial intrest was expressed my several members but it sadly went nowwhere.
If you would like to start again, post a new thread and I will stickify it and post a poll.....a sort os second attempt at this concept.

Yay or nay?
