Manhunt is out on PC & XBOX this Friday, 23rd April. Has anyone played the PS2 version and is it worth getting?

Thought the PS2 game was dreadfull.

Unless you think swearing is big and clever...

PS2 version was ace, loved it.

The game creates a great atmosphere, helped along by the menacing Brian Cox, got great satisfaction finally catching up with that git! :D

And its that type of game! You either love it or hate it. :D

Personally I thought it was inbetween. The game is great fun at first because its something that hasnt been done before (ie-putting plastic bags over people heads to kill them). But the game becomes repetative.

Its probably best to rent, or get it from GAME so you can take it back if you dont like it.

Sounds like I'll have to try before I buy. Shame there's no demo.

Its fun but a little repetitive, the red killings tend to be quite amusing.

IGN and Gamespot gave it 8+

I can see why people thought it was repetitive, its not till further into the game it switches to less stealthy and more full-on-action.

Im just hoping Rockstar have done a better job with bringing it to the Xbox then they did with GTA.

today I have been putting plastic bags over people's head and beating people with clubs.............

also I have been playing Manhunt on the xbox ;)

:suspect:

My brother has it for the ps2 and the xbox version is better (better frame rate and sharper graphics)

not an essential game but fun

I couldn't really notice any differance between PS2 & XBOX, I was expecting more. Still a great game though, just smashed some guys head all over a wall!

Does the xbox version auto switch to widescreen 16/9. The P2 version had a option for wide.

I really enjoyed it, and not because it was a "gory" game.

I enjoyed the stealth elements, the banter of the goons walking around and the "director" leading you along. However, it is true that it gets repetitive, and the "all out action" levels aren't much fun.

Worth a rental at least.

After a 2 hour session on it just before, I feel I need to watch some Songs of Praise or some Mandy Moore film to get some Goodness back into me! :D

Cracking atmosphere plus the sheer carnage of totally caving in someone's head with your baseball bat is simply insane!

I really don't know if I should get this on PC or xbox, same for hitman 3.......

I prefer using a keyboard for controls, but I am seriously running out of HDD space.

The controlller works well for Manhunt on the xbox, hitman 3/contracts is suppose to be cack

So will GAME take it back once you've played it? I always assumed it would have to be in the original plastic wrapper still.

I think you can keep the game up to 10 days and take it back (as long you have the receipt)

I've played the X-Box version and while it looks good, it's a pretty poor game. Without the gore kills, it wouldn't have got half the marks it did. It's really quite tedious - hide in the shadows, make a noise, kill someone, repeat. There are superior stealth games about and if it's gore you want you might as well get Tenchu. Personally, I'm holding out for Hitman 3 come Friday.

Just finished Manhunt on XBOX. It was so easy this time, I dont know whether the game was made more forgiving or because i've played it before. Still loved it and what the hell was that thing after the end credits?

a couple of reviews

manhunt
http://reviews.teamxbox.com/xbox/738/Manhunt/p1

Hitman contracts
http://reviews.teamxbox.com/xbox/737/Hitman-Contracts/p1

I thought tenchu (xbox version) was ruined by the poor camera when trying to look around.

Has anyone tried the xbox headset in Manhunt to distract the guards, apparntely you can get there attention by talking into the headset mic

Goblin

Tenchu on the xbox was awful, the camera was a joke and it was really sluggish.

Hitman Contracts isn't that good either imo, clipping in the game is a bit rubbish, you'll see glitches like people walking through doors. It says you can complete the game by stealth or all-out-action, the action route is too easy whilst the stealth is damn near impossible at least on the levels I played.

I was playing this game last night and boy does it suck.

Not sure if it were just because of the early stages, but the way it kept stopping to put those message boxes on the screen telling you how to do things etc got really irritating after a while, especially when a fight was about to occur.
The dodgy video film effect wears very thing after a while too, and the killings seemed pointless.....press the button, and it jumps to a cut scene showing the killing - it's not as if you really do anything except watch. Definitely a console game what with the head on punching etc.
Tried using a glass shard and this caused no more damage than just punching someone.
Very poor AI once again, and too linear as with everything else.
Poor storyline too. Pointless game that hardly made me want to rush out and put polyethene bags over people's heads or whatever.
Reminded me a lot of Kingpin with it's locations, with aspects of Thief thrown in, mixed around and then half baked.

You're supposed to hold the button down, there are 3 levels of killing from normal to sadistic.

Poor Storyline? How far did you get?? The Message boxes are just a tutorial stage, doesn't take long to get past them. As for a glass shard stabbed into each eye I think it's a little more damaging then just punching someone ;)
