Watched the Akira Production Report this morning. Prescoring Akira - now that is dedication. Good documentary, that. Seeing some of the clips from the film made me appreciate the restored print on the main feature.

I'm going to watch it again, but with the English dialogue this time round. I hope it's decent....

I tried watching Akira when it was shown on Sci Fi a while back.

They've done a great job on the production. The dialogue is better than previous translations - enjoy!;)

Its amaing how many people have very strong feelings against films. They dont just say I didnt like it...heres why, they just say IT WAS @@@@. How educated and informed!!

Personally I love Akira, and own both the original video release and the new dvd release, which i think is absolutley stunning, especially now s i have recently upgraded from a low spec Orion DVD2000 to a nice new sparklind Pioneer dv 444. The english dub is the same one used on the original release just made to fit the 5.1 surround thingy. But personally th only way to watch these films is with the original language track.

Actually Pioneer did a new translation, got new voice-actors for it and remixed the original soundtrack/effects to create an all new 5.1mix.

Personally im not the greatest fan of Akira either, i see the original dub on scifi not long ago and that was terrible, the new dub is much better but still dont make it one of those films that stand out for me, of course the original track gives it more feeling but still nothing special.

I don't know why people rate this film so highly though, maybe they have only been able to see whats released here in the UK, which is then, in that situation understandable.

Don't get me wrong, i dont think its crap, just a bit over rated at times, that is all.

i have grown to love the original dub.

although i probly never listen to it agian, i much rather have that then the new one.

The new dub was pretty good, and I thought it best to watch it with this on because I wasn't that familiar with the film. Saw it SCI-FI channel about two years ago, but me bruv kept puttin @@@@in' MTV2 on:mad: Great film though, the graphic novel is amazing!!!

Did anyone think that the Colonel sounded better in the old dub?

Yup...gotta agree with you on that...he sounded much better in the original dub....
