I think that if you shop around the R1 will be cheaper.

you decide :D Actually that's headbutts, knife-flicks, and some of the gun-play. There's actually a fair bit missing, making it worth the extra cost. If you order from Play247.com, the price of the R1 is actually only 2 pounds more than the R2.

The BBFC website claims that a total of 0.1 second has been cut from Tomb Raider so I very much doubt anything more than the headbutt shot has been removed.
R2 = £13.99
R1 = £16.99

Its up to you whether you want to pay £3 difference for a shot that lasts less than a second.

Isnt the R2 version the already 'trimmed' UK cinema release plus an extra small cut for home viewing... kids will apparently keep watching the violence again and again and again...

Who says it was pre-cut ?.
Surely if it was pre-cut, then there'd be no cuts to be made at all because the headbutt would of been removed as well.

I don't know what is going on. The BBFC press release seems to suggest that material involving the glamorizing of knives was also removed. It could be that some of the cuts were made by substitution, hence only 1 second of running time difference.

Hmmm, I think I see what your saying, but why would cuts of "knife glamorizing" be removed pre-submission to the BBFC whilst leaving in the headbutt ?.
Leaving in the headbutt makes any pre-submission cuts pointless, which is why I think the only cut is of the headbutt & everything else has been left in.

Weren't there rumours that there was a "English cut" of the film being made for the R2 DVD because the Americans wouldn't get the humour of it (ie. the Chris Barrie bits)???

Was this just a rumour or is the R2 going to be a different cut from the R1 (apart from the BBFC "advised" cuts I mean)??

I would prefer a uncut film release to a cut one- as censorship has become my mortal enemy (is censorship mortal??) but considering I'll be getting this film for:

i. Angeline Jolie.
ii. Action sequences to test my sound system
iii. Just good old fun (to hell with the plot)

then maybe a funnier version would be best....

OK I'm just rambling now, anybody got any info on this?

So far, I can count at least two shots that were definitely not there when I saw it at the UK cinema.

The most obvious is the headbutt in the final fight between Lara and Powell.

The other is in the same sequence. After decking Lara, Powell goes over to pick up his knife. We get a close-up shot of his hand as be performs an impressive maneuver twirling it between his fingers.

There may be more, but my memory of the UK version isn't perfect.
