Nice goal. Pires is quality. 1-0 Arsenal. 6 minutes.
Henry 2-0. 27 minutes. Easy.
Penalty to Arsenal.
Henry 3-0.

I'm coming 2nd in a 119 team fantasy football league and I've got Henry and Pires in my team so the more the merrier. I wouldn't mind Leeds scoring.

What's the betting Pires will be taken off in the 88th minute. I seem to lose an appearance point every week with this. That's 38 points over a season.

Just how many are Arsenal going to end up with. Leeds look very poor defensively and you can quite easily see why they are struggling at the bottom.

Well according to Andy Gray you could do nothing to stop Arsenal's last couple of goals.

I expect Reyes to score now he's on.

Some pretty poor finishing from Arsenal, they should have scored more than 5 no question about it. Bit of complacency creeping in.

Arsenal 5-0 leeds

Arsenal 10 points clear of chelsea, same number of games played :nono:

If we buy Robinson in the summer, they need to sort out his one-on-one skills

Crazy game football innit?
Strangely I didn't think we played that badly. Sure the defence was shocking, but with Caldwell and Duberry there I expected nothing else. The most puzzling thing is we have a great central defensive pairing playing in midfield!!! :brickwall
Henry was class tonight - no team would have kept him out tonight, but Arsenals first goal was pure brilliance! There isn't another team in the league capable of playing football like that, and even though your on the end of a hiding you just have to hold your hands up and appluad football at its very best.
6 seconds from goal to goal and 6 one-touch passes - simply cannot be defended against!

I never expected us to take anything from the game, so i'm not that downhearted. Arsenal will rightly win the league at a canter, I just hope this result doesn't undo the good work and steady progress made over the last month or so...

A typical response would have been "they were all flukes" though, I'm sure most arsenal fans would have been pretty dismayed that at some of that finishing. Only difference is I'm glad they missed, they won't be.

for over 50% of that match Chelsea were beseiging Everton, but nothing could come of it. Well done Wolves for not giving up  Henri Camara 5 goals in 5 games now, superb finish as well. Great header from Cort too.

Danny Mills got SOOO much stick today from the Wolves fans and deserved it after his antics at Boro. Booed every time he touched the ball for 90mins, and plenty of amusing chants, most of which the t+c's stop me putting on here. He could've given away a penalty as well when he pushed Camara away as the ball came in. Shame he's such an idiot and a trouble-maker when he's obviously a decent footballer. Doesn't deserve an England place though.

Congrats to Portsmouth too. Them losing would've been better for us but it's a great feeling being a promoted side and beating the reigning champions. 1-0 at home like us too :)

And getting a player sent off (and therefore missing for a game in your run-in), a crucial player injured in Bellamy and potentially having to play twice as many games as Liverpool still this season is going to help Newcastle's cause ??

And dropping two points at Villa wasn't much better than a slip-up either was it ??

That's not the point ... if Liverpool take 12 points out of 12 then Newcastle's game in hand is going to be pretty much meaningless.

The only team that don't need Liverpool to slip up is Charlton and that is provided they beat Man Utd tomorrow.

Thats what our strong squad is for...covering players injuries/suspensions.

And yeah, we do have to play those UEFA cup semi-finals, don't we?.....Which stage did Liverpool get to?

I dont see 'dropping' 2 points away against a team challenging for a champions league place as a slip-up....unlike dropping 2 at home against Fulham, 3 at Charlton, or 2 away against Leicester.

I understand why Liverpool want/need 4th place so much....we aren't under the threat of some of our players leaving if we dont get it!

Yes but similarly if Newcastle were that much better than Liverpool we wouldn't be having this conversation. The fact that we are means Newcastle are playing just as badly as Liverpool are.

As I've always said ... games in hand mean nothing - it's points on the board that count

Care to provide some quotes from all these LFC players who will leave if LFC don't finish 4th ?? And what about those players who have already agreed to join us even if don't make it ??

And if you are really telling me that there won't be any trouble/sackings at Newcastle if they finish 5th

Yes, and we have the same points and Goal Diff....you are only above us on Goals scored.

I dont have the quotes, but it was widely reported earlier this season of Owen (and possibly Gerrard) suggesting a second season of Champions League qualification failure would mean they'd go.

Why would there be?....We dont rely on being there...yes, we want to be there, but we haven't invested heavily, so failure wont have a determental effect on us, and we wont do a Leeds.

Basically, Liverpool and Newcastle have as much chance of gaining 4th as each other, and are you really that confident of winning all your remianing matches? especially when one of them is manyoo away?...i know I'm not of us winning all of ours!

We'll just have to wait and see what happens!

And on away goals in the games between us so far (which is the next criteria after goals scored ;)

But Gerrard has just signed a five year extension to his contract ??

Not being the CL two years in a row is just as bad for Newcastle as for Liverpool.

I am not particularly confident of LFC winning all 4 ... I believe we'll drop points in one of them but knowing us, that is more likely to be at St Andrews rather than Old Trafford ;) But as you say, I can't see Newcastle, Villa and Charlton winning all their games either.

Oh howay, everyone knows that contracts are only to make sure a player leaves for a fee, not a free! Unfortunately, there little loyalty about these days, especially with big wages on offer, and the chance to play against better opposition.

I've had a look at our fixtures, and tried to be as objective as I can , and i see/predict it like this:

Newcastle:

Chelsea home = 1 (or possibly 0)
Man City Away = 1
Wolves Home = 3
So'ton Away = 1
Liverpool away = 1

Total = 7 (or maybe 6) points, giving us 57 (or 56) points at the end

Liverpool:

Man Utd away = 0
M'Boro home = 1
Birmingham = 3
Newcastle home = 1

Total = 5 points, giving you 55 points at the end

I honestly think 4th place is between Newcastle and Liverpool, so haven't allowed for Charlton or Villas results (probably one of those will get it now!)

I defo think it'll come down to that last game at your place....and it'll be a draw! ;)

Its definitely looking like going down to the wire now. I think Charlton will be out of the running by tomorrow night (I can't see them getting anything against the Mancs) but Villa are a potential 'dark horse' though they blew a good opportunity in not beating your 10 men at home yesterday.

I think you do your team an injustice in only giving them 7 points and do Liverpool an injustice in only giving them two points from their last two home games (current home form is 13 points from 18).

This is going to be close ....

I didn't say it would happen did I ??

The point is ... apart from Charlton (assuming they beat Man U tomorrow - yeah right !!!), everybody else is reliant on Liverpool slipping up - whilst not slipping up themselves - to finish 4th.

Crikey!

Dont Newcastle have game in hand so if they win all them they it doesnt matter what Liverpool do Newcastle will finish 4th.They dont have to rely on Liverpool slipping up

Our game in hand is Southampton Away. :o

We've not beaten them down there in the league for over 30 years.

Erm, yes they do.

The most points Liverpool can get now is 12 from their remaining 4 games. If they do this then Newcastle can also only get 12 points from their remaining 5 games (as they would have lost their last game which is against Liverpool).

I've more chance of bedding Kelly Brook than Liverpool getting all 12 points. :D :|

seeing as liverpool haven't won 4 league games on the bounce all season what makes anyone think we could do it now?it's damn pathetic anyway the once mighty reds in an embarassing scrap for 4TH PLACE:mad: 30+ behind arsenal, nearer the bottom than top and yet still some fantasists/undercover agents/madmen give their support to ged "the missed penalty wasn't missed" houllier.

You've also got more chance of bedding Kelly Brook than Newcastle getting 12 points as well IMO

who is saying they are going to win all the last 4 ?? I certainly don't think they will.

But by the same token, seeing as Newcastle are just as unlikely to win four of their last 5 ... neither Liverpool/Newcastle will need a 100% record to finish 4th.

I can certainly see man utd putting out a reserve team against Villa in the league if they are either 4 points ahead, or 4 points behind chelksi at that point.
