Disappointment. Yes. Not to being crap though.
Feeling a bit short changed aswell, for a budget of $15 million, I expected a bit more (with most of the Hong Kong cinema classics coming under $2-3 million). The acting was wooden IMO aswell (to gripe a bit more), with the delivery by Chow and Yeoh suspect.
Iron Monkey to me was a better film (and cost under $2 million). At least there was an Iron Monkey in the film (the statue of a Iron Monkey).

Haven't seen it. Subtitles and dubbed speach annoy me.

Yeah, why can't everything be in proper full-screen analog stereo Hollywood English???

I love my traditional Kung Fu films, and I thought it was wicked. It actually had a recognizable story which took some getting used to in a kung fu film, but I think it worked really well. The acting was not wooden, the people the actors were representing were very just staid. The fight scenes were well done, and it brought a genre I love to a much wider audience than would normally bother with it.

Yeah and you can take Zhang Ziyi and shove her up where the sun don't shine ... hold on that don't sound too bad actually! :D

For starters it's a fantasy film that took itself way too seriously. The middle section dragged way too much. Terrible ending.
The main thing it had going for it was the fight scenes which were excellent and the cinematography was also excellent but not enough to warrant a purchase.
I'm hope Ang Lee will do a better job on The Incredible Hulk :D

For the record ... I actually love the film. This thread was just a ****-take of some of the other threads that were around at the time. I suppose you had to be there.
