Dont know if anyone has heard of this program but some bloke has sold everything he has, raising about £75k or something.

He is then going to bet on a game of roulette in Las Vegas.

Anyway its on live now on Sky One and he's gonna make the bet in about 15 mins.

Should be interesting.

Watching this now, and I'm still not 100% convinced that it's genuine.

Must admit I thought he would have found it easy to bet that amount in Vegas.
Well done on him winning though.

If it is real. ;)

He was never gonna walk away with nothing because Sky had to be paying him something.

I think casinos in Vegas are always wary of somebody betting that much money if they are a relative unknown...hence the reluctancy of most of them to accept the bet ..... :searchme:

It was apparently a bit touch and go if this thing was going to happen. The Nevada Gaming Commission had got involved and now the Hotel had got cold feet.

A friend gave me the news that this bloke was in the papers mid-week and is a con-artist of small repute, anyone have more details?

he did not risk everything he got 20k from bluesq for changing his name, and 25k from his father for a share in the family business. So he only risked about 30K which he could have quite easily make back if he lost , in his original pitch he said he would have between £100 and £200k

Nice free trip to Vegas though

Ashley Revell, a 32-year-old Londoner, sold all his possessions in March, took $135,300 (74,000 pounds) to the Plaza Hotel in Las Vegas, did some low stakes gambling and then placed everything he had left on "Red."

The wheel was spun, a crowd of supporters including his Mum and Dad from London went wild, the ball bobbled over the slots and landed on Red '7' -- and Revell walked away with $270,600.

I had a bit of a :dork: thought.

If he put in the money a few months ago, into this "betting account" the US dollar would have been stronger, so when he pulls it out now, it wont actually be worth the figure quoted ;)

To be fair, when we watched last week's Sky One show about the build up, where he sold practically his last loo roll, we couldn't help thinking about the book deal he'll be lined up for, and the papers (if you read The Sun, he bed red entirely on their suggestion), the film rights, and the Sky one deal. Even if he'd have lost he'd be walking with 100K, I reckon.
