Does anyone know if Disney have deleted the Lion King yet, or plan too? I know the last two (Snow White, Beauty Beast) have gone but are they planning the sme with the Lion King? Thanks

Most, if not all, Disney's go OOP at some stage. The "big" releases often come with a caveat attached along the lines "only available for a limited time" - 60 days usually.

I'm certain LK is one of these - although copies will be still be available beyond the cut-off date for those retailers who still have stock - they can still sell it as long as they have stock, it's just it cannot be re-ordered.

Yes. Lion King is only out for limited period. I don't know how long, but it should still be around for a while yet.

This, being one of their platinum releases, means it will dissapear sooner rather than later. Pinocchio, Peter Pan for example has been around for a few years and released again. Snow White is now gone and goes for £30-£40 on ebay. Lion King is unlikely to hit those prices for at least a year or two

The US Lion King is available for 2 years after release. This is a change to their release pattern which was announced with their accelerated release schedule. The actual American Lion King disc doesn't come with a "Limited Time" sticker on the packaging like the other Platinum releases did.

It's still nonsense though. Now we have Platinum titles staying in print for 2 years, while Sleeping Beauty will pulled after 3 months, and Alice in Wonderland (Masterpiece Edition) has a similar limited release window.

What are Disney smoking? Why react to complaints and (one would assume market economics) by extending the shelf life of their best selling titles, but keep the limited availability schedule for other releases?

I don't know what the situation is with the UK Lion King release. There is a Lion King trilogy boxset coming out in the middle of this year though in the UK.

I was in HMV late last week, and they had Disney DVD's reduced, which included the Lion King at £9.99.

They were also running the Disney buy 2 save £10 offer, so it would have worked out less if you got another title for £9.99.

But to answer your initial question...The Lion King is still available on the shelves.
