I have a Toshiba D.D set (32wd98b). Not impressed with it's sound I've joined the real world with a seperate amp and speakers.
My question is have i set it up correctly?
My video and sky are connected to my tv via scart leads. I have then connected the TV to my amp (Onkyo 595) with a decent set of output leads. My DVD is connected to the TV by scart and to the amp by optical lead.
The amp is set to DPL2 permanantly exept for DVD.
So is this correct, does it require only 2 outputs from the tv to amp (stereo L+R)?
Opinions please.
I am not familiar with this TV but I wouldn't have thought that you needed any audio outputs from TV to amp as all of your sources are connected to the amp which you are using for the sound.
I had a look at Toshiba's web site and whilst it said that your model has three scarts it didn't say how many were RGB enabled. Assuming that you don't have component inputs you should be using RGB for Sky and DVD either directly into RGB enabled scart sockets or by daisy chaining the digibox to the dvd player if the dvd has two scarts.

Yep. Sounds good to me.
Babapapa,
I must be missing something. If the audio outputs from DVD, VCR and Digibox are all connected to amp, why would he need an audio output from the TV to the amp.

sorry to butt in
from what i understand, only his dvd is connected directly to the amp optically (to get DD, DTS etc etc).
The other sources (VCR, digibox) are daisychained to the amp via the TV (to get DPL2).
Also if he wants to watch a terrestrial channel on TV then the TV would need to be connected to the amp to get surround .

As the others have said, only his DVD player is connected digitally to the amp, so the TV needs to be connected to the amp via the stereo line outs, otherwise the only sound output would be through the TV via SCART.

The TV in question does have component inputs so if the DVD does then use them for picture. Then the Sky to AV1 which is the only RGB enabled Scart, otherwise connect your DVD to AV3 making sure both are set to SVHS and your Digibox to AV1 thus getting the best outcome from your equipment.
As far as the sound goes that's how I've done it with my older 32MW7DB tried each separately and to be honest could not tell the difference.
