I've been listening to tracks by Ian Van Dahl, Roger Sanchez and Lasgo recently and think they are fantastic. I guess they are classed as trance? Please correct me if I am wrong. I don't know much about trance, so could you recommend some other albums for me?

Many thanks

Cheesy but really good to listen to before going out:

Believe - 4 Strings

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00008V5VR/thedvdforums-21&path=tg

"Take Me Away (Into the night)" had quite a lot of airplay at the time of release.

76 - Armin van buuren is great too:

Although the mix of "burned with desire" on the album is the slow version and not the recent chart remix.:D

These links have a few samples to listen to and also a few reviews.

Regards.

If you can get it then "A Galaxy Of Psi Trance" is a top album, a few years old mind you. More Goa Trance that commercial stuff but very good

Ferry Corsten has a really good album out with some of his trance stuff (and he is excellent live).

You will probably also love an album called "Hands to the Heavens" which is full of trance songs.

Loads of very good live trance mixes (the only way to listen to trance IMHO) available on http://www.tranceaddict.com/livesets.shtml

They're all free and legal.

Ministry of Sound Trance Nation 1 and 2 mixed by System F are a good place to start. After 1 and 2 they went severly down hill though and very commercial.

Ps Roger "The Beard" Sanchez is not trance, he is House and funky house.

Any of the Gatecrasher or Gods Kitchen albums (although they occaisionally drift into slightly Harder trance styles), especially the earlier ones which feature some classics. Anything by Paul Van Dyk or Tiesto would probably be right up your street too. Especially check out Van Dyk's 'Politics of Dancing'.

Also check out Paul Oakenfold 'Flouro'. A real classic that one, and if you can find a copy online check out his classic 'Goa Mix' from the mid 90s.

Roger Sanchez is music along a totally different style, being Funky House. If you like that, I'd definately recommend checking out the Hed Kandi 'Disco Kandi' compilations :notworthy

Nothing really to add to this thread, as all the good recommendations have been made (including TranceAddict - top site).

Just though I'd say...

Roger Sanchez - Another Chance :luv: :luv: :luv:

Makes me shiver every time I hear it - fond memories of my first time in Ibiza.

Tiesto In Concert DVD is a must for any tranceaddict, especially if you have a decent sound system connected with your television

PS: Ian Van Dahl, Roger Sanchez and Lasgo are all labeled as "cheese", i.e. not proper trance, if you take on an elitist point of view ;)

If you like vocal EDM, you should definitely check out German artists, Fragma.

As mentioned above, the Euro-vocal style of trance (widely becoming known as 'Northern Trance' due to it's popularity in Northern nightclubs) is OK for what it is.

If you do like that stuff and want to ease yourself into some more classy trance without making too big a leap, you might want to try the abysmally named but extremely well chosen 'The Best Trance Anthems in the World...Ever' double CD. The tracklist can be seen here (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00000JSTR/qid=1092073150/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl/026-0473446-2715659)

It contains many of the classic trance tracks from arguably the golden era of the genre, 1997 to 2000. Any album which features the following tracks in sequential order is guaranteed class:

15. Flaming June [BT and PVD Edit] - BT
16. Seven Days and One Week [Radio Edit] - Bbe
17. Cream [Radio Version] - Blank & Jones
18. 1998 [1999 Gouryella's Radio Edit] - Binary Finary
19. Carte Blanche [Radio Edit] - Veracocha
20. Out of the Blue [Edit] - System F

Pretty much every track on that album is great though

If you're after an artist only album, I'd suggest Agnelli & Nelson's 'Hudson Street' is worth a listen 'Everyday' from that album is a cracker.

Trade Vol 2 - best trance album ever (especially the second cd).

Most commercial 'trance' tunes these days are complete cack if you ask me. At least when they hit the compilation albums/charts a few years back you could guarantee that the tune was usually storming.

Some people who listen to trance at my work are admirers of the work of Scooter so make of that what you will.

I'm currently listening to a track called Titty Twister by Viper 2 - now that's how it should be done.

One of the best trance tunes ever has to be a track called Indoctrinate by Castle Trancealot - get hold of that, whack it on from scratch and prepare for nirvana.
