I'm considering buying two sets of Eltax Silverstone speakers at £45 per pair. One set will be used for surround duties,so far so good. The other set,one for centre rear and, this is where i seek advice, the remaining one as the front centre.Eltax Libertys' are already taking care of left and right. The reciever is a Sony 1070.
I appreciate the Silverstone is not a dedicated centre speaker, this is why i would appreciate any comments, encouraging or otherwise.

Lucasfilm who designed the 6.1 system recommend that you use 2 speakers for the rear centre channel, so following that advise, use both speakers, you may have too wire them up in parallel if you only have 1 speaker output for the rear centre speaker.

Then buy a dedicated centre speaker for the front, I believe Eltax do one to match your Libertys.

Hope that helps.

Yes they do. It's £100,hence the thinking in the original question.

Isn't this going to be to high a load. The impedance will dip rather low for my likeing. :(

I go back to my original question "Are they magnetically shielded" If they are not made as dedicated centre speakers they are unlikely to be magnetically shielded and if you place one on top of the TV as a centre it will cause picture staining.

It's possible, if you don't want to risk it, just use one, but don't use the spare as a centre channel, as chances are its not magnetically shielded.

A centre speaker is designed for mostly dialogue, not music, & visa versa for the stereo speaker, so do buy the dedicated centre speaker.

I have no idea if they are shieded or not.The tv isn't patricularly sensitive to magnetic fields and deguases at start anyway.
As a side note I had a Polk centre speaker a few years ago and it was not shielded.
