I ask, because I decided to take out a subscription to DVDs365, because they seem to get recommended here, and there are some titles that SS really don't seem to want to send me (these are often old TV series - not the sort of thing that you would expect to be in the highest demand).

Anyway, I started removing some items from my SS list, and adding them to my DVDs365 list, and I found that several of them were two disk sets from DVDs365, and yet only one disk was listed from SS.

Now, I wonder why SS don't seem to be aware that these titles are two disk sets. Either they haven't got them, or they're only going to send you one of the two disks, or they're going to send both disks in one mailing (seems unlikely).

Anyone have any clues ?

it was suggested in the past that some of these rental companies list stuff on their site to see how much interest it would generate and if it actually warrents the purchase for them, if enough people add stuff to their rental queue they might actually buy them. However its very hard to impossible to prove.

Although their apparant lack of knowledge about the number of the disks in a set seems a fairly persuasive indicator.

Of course, if enough people got together and produced a decent list of these anomalies, someone could join and set their queue to be nothing but suspected "lures".

That would be interesting !

When I was with Screen Select they did send a couple of two disc sets as one title - both were music titles.

I also suspect, as suggested above, that many rental companies do not have the titles they have on the site, but that they will obtain them if customers put them in their list. I don't have a problem with this attitude, so long as they actually do obtain the discs when they are wanted. I'd also imagine that they generally only have one copy of a large number of titles.
