well I just purchased the pioneer DV-545 which is basically the next model up from yours. Apart from a extra scart and some sound features its practically the same.

the picture is stunning, miles better than my old Toshiba and plus the MP3 and CDR compatibility its well worth the purchase..

so go for it m8 :-)

I've just bought a Multi-Region DV444, and I'm well pleased with it!! Well worth the money. I've tried both Region 1 and 2 films and both work flawlessly.

My 545 arrived yesterday and I am well pleased with it as an upgrade to a three year old Pioneer 606. Good with CDs too.

The Marantz 4100 was voted DVD player of the year by What Hifi and as a load of rubbish by another mag ( forgotten which) but that is really only par for the course.

I think I'll go for the 545 myself :D
Would have gone for a Sony - but no MP3!

Where's the cheapest place? I know y'all hate Techtronics.

Go with Upgrade Heaven, i've not used them myself, but many people report how great they are. I'm planning to buy from them as soon as I make up my mind...LOL

I too would go for the Sony 900, but it has no MP3, Sony's fault as I'm sure they've lost loads of Sales.

I got my DV444 from the guys at "hifistore". I think they have the Region Free 545 for around £280 post paid. When I ordered my player it came the next day. Great service!!

Thanks for the heads up - I'll definately use them!
Ordered my amp from unbeatable.co.uk - really good prices - £260 for the 545, but no information on whether its multiregion.

Upgrade Heaven are doing the 545 multiregion for £258 delivered -- see http://thedvdforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=26920 for info.

I'd recommend both them and the player :)

Nope they don`t do M/R, they only buy in machines already M/R such as the cyberhome and import SD210es in the past.

Hi all
Wow,
This forum is a mine field of excelent information :)
Many thanks again everyone as this is my first DVD player purchase.
question for Justin-I originally started out wanting the Tosh 210-but am now getting excited on the pioneer front-Thanks to Upgrade heavens site and here :)
And apoligies to all at upgrade heaven for my (quite a few) changes of mind-but the more I read-The more I'm thinking , this first purchase should be for a more all singing and all dancing model :)
what is the diference between the dv 545 and the more expensive dv646a, ie: if I need the onboard decoders-I will go for that option-final answer-no wwtbam puns intended!
many thanks
